Barbara J: So sorry to hear about the disconnect with your grandson. Having a grandson myself, I sent a web camera to my daughter for her computer to "see" him occasionally. (I also sent one to my son at Whidbey Island NAS to see my son and his wife. Maybe your grandson's mother would allow occasional virtual visits with you. By the way, my son finally got to fly the backseat of the EA6B!

Hi Barbara, Thanks for reaching out. Our son Paul arrived there last August and has been assigned to VAQ 129. He's learning to fly the "prowler" jet right now. He has already fallen in love with the whole area. He and his wife just bought a home so I guess they're hoping to be there for a while (or are tired of renting). I wish we could come to your Feb 28 gathering however, that will be right when we're leaving to make our first trip to Whidbey Island! And, live not 3 miles from the Reeds. We don't know them personally, but are involved with the local school sports programs so knew about Garrett's recent death. Our sympathies to you and your husband and the extended Reed family. Please keep in touch and hope we have another opportunity to get to get together.

I do not know all of the OPSEC rules and regulations but I do know we cannot talk about where the ships are currently at and when they are due in port or at home. You cannot discuss this until it becomes public information.

It is to keep your sailor and their shipmates safe - so I know it is exciting to be able to countdown the days, please be cautious as to posting that information on a public forum. You can use the Private message feature if you want to share that with your friends here.

Annie, Thanks for your welcome and I can certainly understand your excitement with your sone coming home in March. While he wasn't deployed, he moved last the end of July to the base on Whidbey Island, WA. We won't see him till we make our first trip to see him and his wife this March. Whooo hoooo for us! I don't know how long it will be, 6-9 months I think, till his first deployment. He's a jet pilot and will be assigned to an aircraft carrier. So, I'll be looking for your advice for how to keep in touch while they're away. Thanks for contacting me

Thanks Beth, I live in Powder Springs, 10 west of Marietta. I used to spend a lot of time around the Perimeter area (I noticed last Saturdays lunch gathering) but am home a lot having lost my job there last month. Not currently working frees up my time and allows me to meet a wonderful bunch of moms!

Hello to everyone. I've just joined N4M's and was excited to see that their is an active GA group. I just missed your luncheon last Saturday. I look forward to networking with you all and sharing experiences.

Hi Diane, Welcome to the group. Don't know what we have in the way of officer's moms in this group but there is an Officer's group set up. You can find them at:

Denise - what town are you in? I'm about four hours away. I recommend car pooling ...perhaps we can do a Navy for Moms caravan!!!

Irene clearly is the photographer for our group but I'm learning how to use my new camera so thought I'd share these photos from Saturday's luncheon.
