Thank you Kathy.  Wes we went to PIR it was awesome.  We only had a few hours on Friday after PIR and a couple hours at the airport at 2am to see him before he left for MS.  AZ means Aviation maintenance administrationman.  His classes just day.  My husband and I going to visit him this weekend, can't wait.  We are going to bring him some more clothes and maybe the his dog, not sure on that one yet.  What is GW?

Thanks! I most certainly will!

shadowcrzn - count yourself lucky for sure!  We only got three calls - the rushed "I'm here" call, the 21 day in call and the "I'm a Sailor" call.  It seems like yesterday!

Kathy Congratulations on your son accomplishments! I know you are so very proud.  Yes, I did have a bit of good luck for a change. It made my day!

I got to talk to my SR this morning.  He had to have some additional contacts information he didn't have, so they had him call.  It was nice to hear his voice.  He was very up beat and said everything was going well.  We had a nice 16 mintue conversation. He and his bunk mate are the same Rate and will be going to "A" school  together.  How cool is that!

Thanks for the welcome. That would be great. I will take all the help I can get.

Glad you got the box and now have an address to send the letters to.  They really appreciate those.  IS is probably his Rate or job.  I've seen that before, but can't remember exactly what it means.  My son's a Corpsman, which is an HN, so confusing sometimes.  Your only one town over for me and yes, if you have any questions, I'll send you a friend request and give you my number.  If it hadn't been for this site, I would have been in the dark about what was happening.  Welcome to the Navy!

Hi Pam, Yes I got the box on Tuesday and the letter yesterday.  I mailed off a couple letters to him this morning.  We live in Covington! It would be nice to get together some time. Maybe lunch or coffee.

Not sure of all the terms yet but I will give it a shot.  IS, is that a correct Rate?

Welcome to the group Dana!  Have you gotten the form letter and box yet?  That's your first sign that all is well (kind of!).  What part of Georgia are you from?  I'm in Conyers, right outside of Atlanta.  My son left for bootcamp on April 12, 2010, so he's been in about a year a half.  What will your son's Rate be?
