My son left for Boot Camp on Sept. 7, 2011.  Looking forward to getting his address so I can send my letters to him.  It has been hard to let him go....single mom and only child.....but he has been ready since  Oct. and has been very excited about the future.  I am very proud of him!  Can't wait til graduation!

Hi all,

Been busy at our house, hope everyone is well.

Silvia ---- it's been too long since you have stopped in.  How is Gabe doing?  Where is he at?

We got a wonderful phone call from the middle of SOME ocean tonight.  I hate to say but I have missed the last three phone calls from Nick - talk about heartbreaking!  But tonight was MY night!!!

We are off to Graceland for the holiday weekend --- I hope everyone gets a chance to enjoy their holiday!

Saw a Navy man and his wife today in church. I told them about our sites for Navy moms and familes. She said she would check it out.

Kathy and Pam - thank you both for the kind words and welcome!  I'm looking forward to David's journey through bootcamp and on to A school - he will be a corpsman, too!  He was very excited to go - not to get away from us, but to get on with the next stage of his life.  We have no doubt that he will be a fine sailor!  And I'm hoping he'll finally keep all his things together!!!   BTW, I can't wait to see the green Nikes come home!

Welcome to the new Moms!  Kathy and Mary are right, we have all been there.  Bootcamp is hard, but you will be amazed at the transformation of your child!  My son left for bootcamp on April 12, 2010.  I remember the date very well because it's also my birthday!  Gee thanks kid!  Ha, ha.  He is now a Corpsman stationed in Naples, Italy and loves what he does.  I miss him like mad, but I wouldn't take away any of the excitement he's lived over the last year and a half.  He has grown and matured so much and we are so proud of the young man he has become.

Good luck on your journey through boot and make sure you join the bootcamp group also.  Lots of support there.

Good morning Ladies!  My name is Renee and I live in Fayetteville.  My son David arrived at GL last night - got his call around 12:30!  He sounded good, not too tired.  His group that left from ATL was very small - only 7.  Wishing you all well.
