No scolding here Susan, appreciate your efforts to brighten the holidays for our deployed.

Our son has been gone for 288 days now but we just got word last night of his homecoming date :-)

Efforts such as yours have been so beneficial to their morale so thank you for posting!

If there is anyone who has a Son or Daughter deployed in a combat zone, & would like them to receive a care package from the BSMA GA1 for the holidays, please friend me with their address.

Also, if there are any "Teachers" or "School" related parents  on this site, we are in great need of students hand making holiday cards "Thanking our Soldiers" for their service. This is the one item they are most appreciative of receiving. I will need them "By" Fri, Nov 15. I will give you my address to send them. Not sure if I will get scolded for making my plea on this site, but this project is so important to our deployed that I wanted to reach out to all of you. Thank You.  ((( : )))

That first call is such a relief Dees'Mom!  It's been over three years since my son was in bootcamp, but I remember that feeling so well to this day.

Just got a call from my SR!!!!! So glad to hear from her! She's been gone over2 weeks now. She sounded real tired but glad to talk to us. She had gotten all our letters and had written us back but said they were holding their Mail.

Thank you Pam, we have heard from the ombudsman to let us know all communications to the ship have been cut due to the investigation. Very unnerving for all the families but nothing compared to what two of the families must deal with.

Praying for the men on that ship Mary.  I have been reading about this all day on CNN and Fox News.  So sad.

Donnab,
We can understand your worries. If he is on a ship or sub that has a deployment schedule that will give him limited duty orders to a shore command due to his weekly needs and they would not want him to deploy if complications could arise.

I am unaware of a sailor being sent home for home care or recovery but I have known sailors being assigned to a hospital for limited orders - it just depends on what is available and where he is stationed. The Navy historically does a very good job taking care if their sick and injured.

Donnab, If he is assigned to a ship or sub, you should contact the Ombudsman. They will be very helpful to give you some answers to your questions, and help direct you.
Mary, Proud mom of Nick.....Prayers being sent the crew of that helicopter.

My Son was injured while on leave, Since then a blood clot formed in his leg and went to his lung, he was hospitalized at the Naval Medical Center in Portsmouth.

He has been put on 6 months limited duty and must have his blood drawn twice a week because of the medication he is taking. We (his family ) live in Georgia, my question is do they ever let  someone with health issues come home and receive medical treatment near their home so that they can be near family in case of an emergency. He was alone when the clot went to his lung and drove his self to the hospital, he seems to be alone most of the time and that concerns me with maybe him being depressed over this situation. And can they be on limited duty here like at a recruiting station? If I need to be directed to another group please let me know. Or if someone else has had this type experience please let me know how you handled it. We have traveled to visit him 3 times in the last month because we were so worried about his health.

I am one worried Mom,
