Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

A school kinda sucks...
Hello everyone!
I have been feeling rather sad these past few days. Boot camp was hard but I am glad that it's over. I think bootcamp made our relationship stronger. Right after graduation, he was sweet and very attentive. My boyfriend is now in A school and on the first week that he was there, he was sweet and was calling me everyday. However, once school started, he rarely called or texted. I tried telling him that I would really appreaciate a 2 minute call or even just one or two texts a day, and he tried to fulfill my request for two days and now we are not talking again. When I call, he wont even pick up. We would just text back and forth. This had been going on for like a week now. When I asked why he couldn't even spare a minute or two on the phone, he says he is really busy. I understand he is busy (I am busy too, but I could always find time to talk). But is it really hard to call your girlfriend for just one minute to make sure she is okay?
Anyways, thank you for reading. Any advice would greatly be appreciated. Otherwise, I just really need to get this off my chest.

I know the feeling girl! :( my boyfriend was the same way when he first started A school (he's going to be graduating in about a week). Just be patient and wait for the weekends because then he'll get some free time. Stay strong! :)

Thank you, girl! I needed to hear that! =) It does seem like he has more time to talk on the weekends. He must be really busy...... he is also the worst multitasker, lol. You must be proud that your bf is graduating in a week! I can't wait!!!

I went through the same thing. my husband finally told me , that he ws not use to talking so much. he went through 8 weeks of pretty much no talking, to me wanting to talk all the time. it was overwhelming for him. just give him time

Take it from me....I have a fiance who's graduating A school next week and it's NOT EASY. I actually preferred the bootcamp experience much more than school for alot of different reasons. Bootcamp made us much more stronger and it was a great experience to be able to send each other letters for a few months back and forth. Once he got to school things changed - we fought alot, and the communication was barely there. In HIS defense, trust me...he IS VERY busy. You didn't say where he's stationed at for school, but mine was in Pensacola and the schedule there was hectic and gave us little time to communicate. Realize that for the most part you won't hear from him during the day......it doesn't excuse for the small moments he has that he can call or text you for a minute, but just realize it won't be easy. I am so glad it's finally over to be honest with you - people said bootcamp was rough but I tend to disagree - I would take it over any school ANY day! LOL. Good luck!!!

A school can be very tough especially when they first start out. They have to balance studying, watches, mustering, changing uniform 3 times a day, and cleaning. My boyfriend is in Port Hueneme California. At first he called me every day. Once he started his classes he would text me a few times a day, He would call me maybe every other day. After his second week of school, he would call me everyday. I would call him too, which he usually would not answer but he always called me back. However after he got to phase 2, he wouldn't call me on the weekends unless he had watch. I figured he just wants to have some free time with his friends, but I did mention that it bothered me so now he calls me on the weekend no matter what and his friends yell at me through the phone. I saw him in March. I feel like I learned a lot about his school while I was there. I'm surprised he is able to call and text me as much as he does. They have a test every week. They have PT 3 times a week and a 6-8 mile jog at 3AM. Then they have their watches. They have to sign out everywhere they go too.
