Hey there!

I am currently in NYC,  my husband is in bootcamp and graduates 12/29.

We decided that I am going to stay back for a few months while he goes to SC so I can finish a semester. After I finish a semester I am transferring and living with him while he is in school.

However, right now, I am paying my bills and his bills.

I moved in with my mother after he left to save money but I have had to find a place and I did!

it's a nice apartment with a flexible lease and the rent is pretty cheap for NY

But It really sucks because the money I make is not enough to cover all of this.

His first check was deposited on Nov 15th and it helped a lot ...I am guessing because they combined Nov 1st and the 15th together

I paid bills, put money towards his credit cards, his car payment...ETC

Now, the check that was deposited today (DEC 1st) is HALF of that and it is not enough to help even combined with my money and the money saved from his last check...

When is housing supposed to be applied?

Some people have told me that we won't be getting it until AFTER bootcamp...

I just need someone who has gone through this already to please explain all of this to me.

I really just want to make sure I can hold down everything while he is gone,I feel so out of control.

It takes a few pay cycles to shake out the details.  BAH can take eight weeks or so to show up, it will come first as one lump sum back to when he left for boot camp, then it will arrive half in one check and half in the other.

Will your landlord work with you as a military spouse until the pay evens out?  Some are quite flexible, but you have to explain and ask.

Yeah I am thinking I am going to have to do that! I will be seeing the landlord today so I am crossing my fingers that he will understand. I just don't want this to leave a bad impression :/ but we have to do what we have to do. Just wish my husband was here, he would calm me down :]

thank you for responding! I really appreciate it

Also Idk about where you are but I know in Oklahoma the local Archdiocese will help you out. I even know of ppl who have had to get help from more than one, we have more than one locally. They usually will give you a little check to make it through the month. I am not big on taking money, but you could always donate back when your backpay comes through. hope you get it figured out!

His BAS technically, dependents dont' get BAS, only sailors.

LOL!

My husband finished boot camp April 2010 His paycheck came on the 1st of the 2d month of bootcamp. I hope that helps. It won't seem like a lot because they took uniform allowance and so many other things out of those first two checks. Is your husband going to be a Nuke? My husband is graduating that program next week and then we are moving to Hawaii. :)

When my boyfriend leaves i will be paying for our phone bill. How can i have access to the money that he gets, and how often do the checks come in?

He has to put you on the account, only he can do that.

They get paid twice a month, but if you've read the above replies, you can't count on the first check, or even two.  Better set some money aside mow for that phone.  He can have his suspended while he is in BC and not pay for it.
