There's far more activity in the boot camp group if you don't get a lot of replies here.  It says moms but everyone is welcome.

Thank you!

Hey there. My boyfriend left for boot camp in January and he is now a graduated Sailor.

I know this is hard but you can do it! Take it one day at a time.

I strongly advise to do as much research as you can. For me, knowing as much information as I could was very helpful. Here is a group about PIR (pass-in review [aka graduation]): http://navyformoms.ning.com/group/pirreferenceinformation

You can expect to receive his address within two weeks of graduation and he can only send the address information and graduation information to one person. He will be unable to write for the first five days due to processing.

If you have more questions, feel free to message me or reply to this post.

Hey! Thank you for replying. He left last week and the box was received on Monday. In your experience how long does that take after the box gets here? I feel like this has been the slowest week and a half of my life! I’m hoping it will get better soon once we can start sending letters. Congrats to your sailor! Where was his A school?

I would estimate about 1-2 weeks before you receive the address information.

I found the letters to be the most precious thing in the world. In fact, although my Sailor does have his phone to communicate I still miss the letters too. There is something more intimate in writing letters to me. Might be because I am a writer.

Thank you :) He will be going to the NUKE school in Goose Creek, South Carolina. He is currently in holding for medical reasons. I am hoping that he clears medical so that he can continue his journey to A school.

If you know your boyfriend's A school, you can join the group for it, same with his graduation date. There is a group for each graduation class.

Hi! where do you find the groups for graduation? My boyfriend recently left for bootcamp and I just would like to view the groups.

This group doesn't have them, but the moms group does.

I haven’t gotten the form yet but I think his PIR will he may 25th. I check the mail everyday and get disappointed when there isn’t anything in there.

I am sorry. I know it is very hard to wait. I sometimes struggle with anxiety that inhibits my ability to function. Just know you are not alone and many of us have been through the same thing.

I can promise you that it will come at some point. If he has been gone for almost a week and a half, I would guess another 5-15 days based on where you live.

USPS has a cool service - informed delivery.  You can sign up for free and then you get an email each morning showing what mail you will receive for the day:

I also struggle with anxiety. I hate waiting. Thank you both so much!

I actually signed up for it already! Hoping soon I will see my SR’s handwriting instead of junk mail!
