Okay, husband is in boot camp now what the heck do I do to get things rolling for DEERs

Most do NOT wait until after boot camp, that delays benefits and such for months.

Putting their dependents on page two of their service record and enrolling their dependents in DEERS is part of the in processing for all married sailors. He was supposed to take copies your information with him, SSN, birth certificate, marriage license; to have it in hand at MEPS.  Waiting until after boot camp is just a mistake on the recruiter's part for not making sure the sailor had all this ready before they left.

Dependents are NOT allowed to this for themselves, it is the responsibility of the sailor.

You should be receiving a signed form shortly, which you take to the nearest base or facility to get your ID card. If you can get an ID card, you're in DEERS.  (DD Form 1172)

go early to the closest base and take everything that the ladies have already mentioned.  My daugher had one page that her husband sent her, plus one ID that had her married name on it, ie ss card, drivers license, and her marriage certificate.  She was there at like 8AM and it took only about an hour.  The lady told her if she had come in 15 minutes later, she would have waited for hours.  It's all hurry up and wait, but you are on his benefits the minute he completes his paper work.  Tricare is the most tedious, but they are super nice and try to make things as easy as possible for you.  Remember, in the Navy everything takes paper work and patience!! Good luck!

it only took about 5 minutes to get my ID :)
Did he do the POA form in boot camp and did you have to wait for that form?
Power Of Attorney. He will have to wait til he is out of boot camp. He can do that at navy legal. Did you receive the form in the mail for DEERS? You should get a form VIA mail with information and paperwork for DEERS and DENTAL INSURANCE if you husband chose to sign you up for it. You will have to go to the nearest military base and show them your DEERS paperwork and they should let you on base and tell you which building you will need to go to. You can look up the nearest military base online if you are unsure. They will issue you your military ID that day. You need to bring your social and drivers license. You will automatically be enrolled for tricare standard, if you want to enroll online for Tricare Prime (its free, and everything is covered 100% rather than having to pay a copay and annual deductible) I didn't know about tricare prime, but i went to the office yesterday to sign up for it. Also went to the doctor yesterday, everything was covered 100% including my medicine! The dental is through united concordia and you will have to send that paperwork off, i its around 13$ a month or so.
The base isn't an issue because my stepfather is Army so we live right next to it. But I haven't gotten any  paperwork and today makes three weeks that he has been gone but they are a week behind. They had told him that he could do the POA paperwork there. I don't...I just need to get things moving because I'm almost 27wks pregnant.
It took a month before i got my paperwork! It should be coming soon! :)
