Choose your Username.  For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either).  Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username.  While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups!  Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself!  Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility. 

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.  

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed.  Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

So I have a pretty huge horror story that I have to share. So...

Cameron recently bought me a new engagement ring. He had been saving his money for a long time and picking up weekend watches for 100 dollars each. Long story short---he spent a lot. He went to the NEX in Pensacola to buy my ring, and gave it to me two weeks ago. I was amazed. It was beautiful and I loved it. But for some reason, I had a gut feeling something about it wasn't right. I looked at it under a magnifying class and saw an inclusion....which according to the paperwork on the diamond...shouldn't have existed. I could even see it without the magnifying glass. (it was graded VS) Instantly I just felt SICK.

 I thought maybe Cameron said he spent X amount of dollars, but actually didn't. I asked him about it, and he showed me the receipts for it.... he wasn't joking. I sensed something was WAY wrong, so I took the diamond to my family jeweler of 36 years. This woman does all of the paperwork for jewelry ranging from $200----->2.4million. She's legitimate. She took an hour to appraise it using every possible technology. Long story short.... All of the information, including the value, was WRONG. Instead, my diamond was appraised at $437....un-f******-believable. No, I didn't leave a zero out. Cam spent SO MUCH more than that. It's insane.

You've been warned! Tell your men, and friends. Whether it's the NEX's fault, or the gemstone certification people's fault.....I don't care who's hands the scam was in....it still wound up on the shelves of our NEX, that we TRUSTED.

I'm flying to the NEX on Friday to sort everything out. If they don't give us a refund, I'm taking them to court. But it's completely disgusting to me that this could have happened to other people, but they just don't know it. I know a ton of men go to the NEX because they trust that they will have a good deal, similar to that of Costco, that will help with the cost of jewelry for their sweetheart. Has anyone else had a problem with this?

 

I just felt I had to warn all of you ladies. NO ONE should have to have a scandal surrounding their engagement ring! It ruins all of the fun! I feel terrible, Cameron feels terrible. I can't even look at the ring with the same happiness. And to have to replace it? with him? it takes away all of the fun.

I got my ring from the NEX. No major visible inclusions and I am very happy with it. Maybe it was a one case or one store thing? I'm sorry that happened to you hopefully it gets resolved. I'd get a second appraisal though just because.

I just did. Sadly, they said the same thing. Worth $500 maximum. I dont know who got scammed here. Cameron and I talked about it and think maybe the NEX was when someone bought the ring, swapped the stone, returned it, and then we bought it. Either way, they should be confirming the diamonds upon return before they hit the sales floor to ensure the safety of their customers. That's just jewelry protocol. No one should have to be in our position over their engagement ring! It's literally taken away so much from the experience of it.
