Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Getting ready for a new life
I just found out that my husbands next deployment is Japan. This will be my first time going on deployment with him. I am so excited but nervous and scared at the same time. I won't anyone or anything there. Does anynone know what I should expect? What is it like there?

I was there for 12 years, in Yokosuka. My ET2 and his wife just moved there (Atsugi base).
First, where in Japan? We have many bases there.
Second, has he ordered his Welcome Aboard packet yet? You'll need it. Lots of details to consider. Does he have his sponsor? When do you go through your overseas screening? He's an E-4 or above, yes? Otherwise, you aren't going.
Third, join the Japan moms group immediately, and the group for his ship or base.
Also, it is PCS orders, not "deployment". Deployments are different, shorter stints and a return to a homeport or base.
I can post many more details, but let's get the basics of the move down first.

Hi!
We're stationed in Japan. We're in Misawa, and we've gone down to some of the other bases in the Kanto Plains areas to visit. We really like it :-)
