For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Moving to Great Lakes - HELP?!?!
My husband is currently in boot camp and set to graduate next week. WHOO HOO!! Finally!! His A school will be in Great Lakes as well and since it will be longer than 6 months I will be able to join him. I have been trying to get through to the housing office to start asking some questions but so far I am having no luck. Hopefully someone here can help answer some questions...
1. If he applies for housing on Feb 6th, about how long will it be before something is open for us?
2. I really do not like the idea of someone else packing all of our stuff and moving it for me. We live in a small place and I feel comfortable doing the moving myself. My only concern is driving cross country in the winter. Does anyone have any experience with this drive?
3. I've heard that I might be able to do a partial "do it yourself" move. I will be responsible for getting our car there anyway, right? So I'm thinking about packing up my car with some items, maybe towing a small trailer, and letting the Navy do the rest. Anyone heard of that as an option?
4. If I do opt to just let the Navy do the move completely, will they move my car? How long would it take to get our things?
Any advise you ladies have would be greatly appreciated.
