My husband is currently in BC and will PIR April 5th. He said his A school for IT could be between 22-32 weeks. If its more then 6 months will I be able to move while he is in A school or will I have to wait until he is in C school, he will have C school since he is in for 6 years. And if I am able to move how soon can he put in for that and what is the common waiting period to find out if I am able to? Is there anything I can do to help the process? And information would help!

I am in North West Arkansas. It's about 12 hours from pcola. I am just afraid if I do move we still will only see each other on the weekends. Which is by far better than nothing. Somone on there did say that he could apply for something that would allow his to spend nights off base with me. As far as jobs. I have been kind if looking around already jut nothing serious. Do you know of any specific websites for housing or good locations in pcola?

I am going to be direct here, and a bit harsh.  If I'm off the mark feel free to ignore my remarks. I am posting publically because every spouse needs to have this warning.

Rant:

Weekends only ... still?  If he's going to you on weekends, that's about 600 miles.  Very much a violation of the liberty mile limits for his A school, which is 300 miles (maybe 350?). Unless he gets a deviation chit every weekend, he is majorly breaking the rules.  If he gets caught, they could choose to pull his liberty back to phase one, or even put everyone in his class/division back to phase one.  And how is he getting around the liberty buddy thing?   I hope he isn't doing this, because it jeopardizes the liberty of every student sailor there.

Okay, rant over.

If you move to P-cola, he can apply for "brown bagger status".  That allows him to live offbase with you, even on week nights when he does not have duty.  As long as he is always on time and keeps his academics up, it is no problem.   There is paperwork involved, but it is worth while.

First of all I meant weekends while I am living in Pensacola not Arkansas. Not for him to come see me each weekend. That would be the dumbest thing for him to do.

Thank you for the other information.

Thanks for the clarification.  I read it that way... and I did know guys who would do that!
