Hi everyone!
My boyfriend and I are considering getting married. We have been together for 4 years and being apart is getting very difficult. He is stationed in Norfolk, VA and I want to get as much information about different housing as possible. Which areas are the safest? etc. I have lived with my parents all my life and I don't want to be in a place where I don't feel at ease. If you could please share with me your experiences on on-base housing that would be fabulous. He says he would like to live in VA Beach or Hampton. I am completely clueless about the housing process etc so please help!

I think that is what she is asking for more information about. There is a fb group that is for navy wives in the area with ladies that can tell you pros and cons of each military housing area up there. or google Lincoln Military Housing in Norfolk area and they will show a list of military housing places. There are a ton over there, not just one. But ask around some of them are old, and I know at least one of them is getting in some trouble right now for excessive crime, maintenance issues, and mold I think. You can also email the housing office and they will send you a list of all the places you can look into. There is some housing you can get on the hampton side but the commute through the tunnel is a pain everyday.
There is base housing in Virginia Beach that is really nice. We just got stationed in Norfolk in September, and we live in some of the housing in VB. Our housing is literally walking distance to the gate of the Little Creek base, and it takes my husband about 30 minutes to get to work in the mornings (on Naval Station Norfolk) in traffic. The area in VB is very nice, and everything is really easy to get to. Hope that helps.
