OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

When to get married
Hello ladies! My fiancé and I are embarking on this new Navy journey together, and we are trying to figure out when we should get hitched. We have been engaged since July and will be together for 4 years in April, so rushing into things isn't' an issue :) We had talked about waiting for him to be completely done with Nuc School (18 months) before getting married, but with breaks and everything, it's going to be much longer than that. On top of that, he may end up on his first deployment right after he's done, which would push the wedding back farther. I thought that maybe we could get married at Christmas when he has time off (assuming he will). Any suggestions?

My husband and I were I'm the same situation. We had no idea when to get married. Good news is though, usually they'll get close to two weeks off for Christmas break and you guys can go wherever you want. there are no restrictions for leave. I don't remember for sure, but he might have to let them know he's getting married, but Christmas time is definitely one of the easiest times to get married.

I believe that Christmas break started arpund the 20th this past year and he had to be back for muster on the 5th by noon

I was able to move down with him near the end of break to the base housing, but because of paperwork, he wasn't able to stay here with me right away. The good news is though, he had muster on Sunday and was able to stay home with me by Wednesday. The main thing is to have him get his BEQ checklist taken care of, I believe. He'll need to fill out his page two as well, but he couldn't leave his BEQ until he got it checked.

Hmm... Before he leaves for Christmas break, he is able to begin the base housing paperwork so the actual lease singing might go a little more smoothly. If you go for a furniture package, they'll pretty much come whenever is good for them, but so far it seems worth it as least for the beginning. The people at the commissary here don't seem to like new wives because when I went in there with my husband, the lady almost turned me away because I don't have my new ID yet, but that's no big. Also, if you're planning on getting a job, start looking early. I have been so bored LOL.

LOL good to know. I probably won't come until next summer, so I can finish out the school year here (I'm a teacher). How is the base housing out there?

Ok, then I would figure you guys shouldn't have any problems! The base housing is good. My husband and I got a non-renovated place so the housing didn't even take all of his BAH and its still pretty good. I will say, I kind of wish we would've gotten a renovated place because they look nicer, but our place is still very good. :)

Awesome. That's great to hear. I've been having nightmares lol You may not know the answer to this, but do they let dogs on base housing? We have a golden and we don't want to get rid of him if we can't have him on base!! What is the class schedule like? I'm assuming you don't see your husband very much, based on other things I've read...

They allow two animals per unit, but I'm not sure if they have weight restrictions, though I have seen a few large dogs around here so I think you should be fine. I dropped my husband off at 6:15 this morning and they have a PT at 5:30pm and they have two mandatory hours each day after school, but to start out they have to complete 15 per week, so he'll have to put in extra somewhere.
