For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

I agree with the others. Stay as far away from that situation as possible. Maybe your husband can talk with the guy about it, and help him to see what he is doing. However, nothing good will come from you telling her.

Melissa, STAY OUT OF IT!!! You will come across this more than you want to as a military wife. It goes both ways. It will just back fire in your face. And, if you have never met here then you probably can't be there for her when she REALLY needs someone. DON'T DO IT!!! She will figure it out for herself.

He didnt bring his wallet , but he had a little book with his bank info in there and a few adresses and phone numbers..... iwe nt to the post office but because i am in canada it will take afew days regardless and it cost me 41$ to sned in priority mail... and he may only get it in 6 days:( and thizs is his 3rd week i thought he may get a calll.. ah i am just so worried and upset... i knew i should have wrote that number everywhere i could!

Jenn, if he had the paper in his wallet, he could keep it.
As for A school at Glakes, they hardly ever begin right away. First they must go to indoc classes, and most of them are placed on hold until there are enough sailors in that rate to make up a class. Oh, they have to muster and work and stand duty, but they may not be in class. The Great Lakes group has really good information.

Jenn, I'm pretty sure you could send him that information in a letter. Once they send out the letter with his address on it, you should be able to send him letters and small packages.

does any one know if when at bootcamp they are allowed to get papers like with numbers on them to be able to call.. i dont think my boyfriend knows my number byheart as he had it in his cell on speed dial....what if he cantcal l cuz he doesnt know my number i am so worried... he had written those things down on a paper...

when your sailor goes to a-school in gl do they start like that following monday after bootcamp graduation?

Moving... she has to have written permission, a Power of Attorney from you. This is because she has to sign the papers saying she watched them pack and it was all there. If you have packers coming in, do NOT pack things yourself... they Navy/insurance won't be held accountable for self-packed items. They're very good, they have professional packing materials and techniques, trust them. Unpack what you've packed!!!!
I've been moved by Navy movers all my life. Never broke anything.
