Is your sailor still in P'cola? Mine is as well. I saw your discussion and just wanted to say that if you needed to vent or talk I don't mind at all, I myself have gone through some as well maybe not the exact same but It's always nice to have someone to talk to that can relate.

Hmmmm......I don't know the answer to that. I know your loved one has to make the reservation but you can call and ask them that over the phone. I did that with Navy Lodge. Just told them hey I know my son has to make reservation but can I ask in advance blah blah blah. They were very nice and answered for me. We also tried Gateway but they're booked.

Oops, just read your posting again and see that you tried Navy Lodge and they're booked. If you have time though, try Suburban Inn. But if it's this weekend. It is booked. Also, I'm told the Holiday Inn Express on Warrington is nice. It's close to base. 850-696-2800. I didn't try there cuz we have a 10 lb puppy we're taking......no pets allowed.

Hey, I see where you asked for places to stay in Pensacola. We have a last minute trip planned and are leaving Thursday. I spent hours on the phone finding somewhere to stay. My son called Navy Lodge and they're booked up. When are you going? If you're planning for a trip in several weeks, they might be open and it's an awesome place. Right on beach. Your sweetie will have to call though since it's Military. If there isn't room, I would next try Suburban Inns. They're right next door to gate. I couldn't get a room there either it was booked. BUT, it's closest to the base. My son has been inside the Suburban Inn and says it's very nice. You have to be careful where you stay in Pensacola....area around the base isn't very nice from what I hear.

Jenn, So what happened with troy is that he graduated PIR, got on the plane saturday to FL, And they stated phase 1 that monday. So he didnt have to wait for the other classes to get there. He is aircrew and is getting ready to start RSS next week. He brought a cell phone with him to FL so I got to talk to him day 1, So I really dont know if there is a pay phone around, but I'm sure there is! When I went to visit him he was already in phase two, phase one is only like 10-14 days. So He was off that weekend and we got to hang out all day long then he had to be back on base like 10 or 12. So I'm sure you guys could at least hang out on base b/c he is phase 1.

Welcome aboard! Please try to look at the positive side of things. This is a great opportunity for the both of you. The Navy is a great job opportunity not generally available right now to everybody outside. Good jobs are hard to come by and the Navy has a lot to offer. You need to be strong for him...be positive...encourage him. What is his rate (job in the Navy)?
