I'm a Navy Wife and I created this group back when I was a girlfriend and my now husband had gone to bootcamp. Its funny because i joined this website when they had under 50 members. This website has been sooooo helpful and I met so many people on here that gave great advice. I made this group so that we could all come together and give eachother advice and share ideas. I see that this group is growing more and more by the day, Im happy to see that because so many wives/fiances/and girlfriends are clueless when it comes the military lifestyle. Not knowing what to expect and not knowing about deployments, bootcamp, duty stations, etc. I want this to be the place you all recommend because so many people on this site are knowledgeable and very helpful. Once again thanks for joining my group and i hope you get all the information you need. I dont get to log on as much as i used to but i try my best to get on here. So if u have any questions feel free to make a discussion topic and Im positive that it will get answered if not, inbox me :-) Take Care ♥

Linsey, you should tell your sailor to get with his chain of command so that he can get you on the Ombudsman's social roster. Once that happens you can contact his Ombudsman about the details that you are asking. Nothing is ever official until they are on the plane home. Deployments can easily get extended and changed and the very last second. Every answer that you will get here will vary.

Got a phone call from Chuck today :D They're feeding him good (steak sandwiches and roast beef he said lol). It felt so good hearing his voice.. I know that those of you with SOs who just started bootcamp are really going through it right now, cause that's where I was when he first left.. But i promise you, once you get those letters and that call and he tells you everything is okay, you'll feel so much better. And it'll come quicker than you think. And remember, watched phones don't ring! lol and watched mailmen don't deliver letters from recruits lol. Just chill out as much as you can and focus on other things and you'll get through this.

Tiffany: My bf is also in great lakes. When school starts is different for everybody your bf should know when he starts. My bf is already phase 2 it took him less than a week i think to phase up. Something about he did all his watches or something. I know for memorial weekend my bf gets a 4 day weekend idk if it has anything to do with their phase im guessing they will all have it off since its a holiday. You can send packages i have only sent him clothes but i kno my bfs mom sent him food. Like brownies and candy that he likes. Me and my bf are waiting to get married i would say dont rush into anything just for benefits be sure thats what you want. I know if you are married before orders are issued the whole living together will be easier but even if you get married later on after they are issued you can still live with him only thing is they dont pay for you to move or something like that.

Tiffany: I stayed at the Navy lodge and it was right next to the base and it was pretty reasonable as far as prices go. PIR weekend we went to Chicago, Sears/Willis tower, Aquarium, Navy Pier, 6 flags, Gurnee Mall as alot and there is also medievil time. My fiance is in Pensacola and I send him packages, with food and stuff like that but, since yours is in great lakes I don't know if that changes things. It takes two weeks for mine to phase up but, it also depends on how long they are there is what I have been told. Me and my now fiance were going to wait to get married but, it is easier in many ways to get married. You can't live together unless you are, you can't sign him off base, and just a lot of things that kind of drive me crazy..lol. These are no reasons why to get married but, if you love him and want to be with him time shouldn't matter. I hope I helped
