I'm a Navy Wife and I created this group back when I was a girlfriend and my now husband had gone to bootcamp. Its funny because i joined this website when they had under 50 members. This website has been sooooo helpful and I met so many people on here that gave great advice. I made this group so that we could all come together and give eachother advice and share ideas. I see that this group is growing more and more by the day, Im happy to see that because so many wives/fiances/and girlfriends are clueless when it comes the military lifestyle. Not knowing what to expect and not knowing about deployments, bootcamp, duty stations, etc. I want this to be the place you all recommend because so many people on this site are knowledgeable and very helpful. Once again thanks for joining my group and i hope you get all the information you need. I dont get to log on as much as i used to but i try my best to get on here. So if u have any questions feel free to make a discussion topic and Im positive that it will get answered if not, inbox me :-) Take Care ♥

his girl~ Im sorry your parents are having listening issues, but then again, most adults do! Good luck with college, at least he will be closer. If you plan on getting married soon, then you can live with him and go to school at the same time!!!!!!! hint hint! That's what I am doing in only 13 more weeks and its going to work out excellent!!!!

I am so sorry to hear about your parents being that way. Just keep pushing and you will eventaully be able to move with him. I am kind of in the same situation. I am 21 years old, married, and my parents still think they own me. I moved back home just to save money while my hubby is gone. I know just how you feel. It really is hard right now, but it will all get better. I hope everything turns around for you and enjoy your time with your boyfriend. Maybe you should try sitting down with your parents and explaining to them that you could really use their understanding and help throughout this experience. But always remember this is almost over then we will finally...soon...be able to move and live with them!!!!!

sorry ladies but I need to vent and have no one else to vent to...I'm just really sick of my parents trying to micromanage my life I'm 18 and they are controlling when I can see my boyfriend and all of that even though I'm paying for everything...They aren't paying for any part of my trip down there, which I'm fine with, but I'm annoyed with them trying to control everything. Like if they knew I'm on this site they'd be mad..I don't know my mom doesn't understand this life at all, and won't even try to. She says it isn't hard and I need to suck it up and doesn't care if we see each other or not. This is among other things and I'm getting really fed up...ughh

sorry just frustrated

Oh, and P.S. They don't have time down there for sex! When you're on 18 hour shifts and still have quals to finish, you don't have time for anything else but whatever zzz's you can catch! I don't think women getting pregnant underway is an issue.
Comment by Emily-aaronsgirl11 on April 29, 2010 at 4:23pm
My brother is stationed on a sub and he thinks the idea of women coming on board is ridiculous. After his first deployment he was awestruck by the idea of walking through Wal-Mart because there was just so much space! He said adding women would just make even less space than there already is. I agree with him in that aspect. But with the women on the rise in math and engineering, it could definitely be beneficial to the Navy. I mean, we are the superior race ;)

On the other hand, I say let the boys have their toys. Keep the submarines for the men. I know I wouldn't want to be without the sun for three months!
Comment by Anti M on April 29, 2010 at 11:26am
When I was in the Navy, women were not allowed aboard warships, just the few tenders (supply ships). "Everyone" said the women would disrupt things, get pregnant, distract the men, just sex sex sex. Guess what? Women are on ships and it works just fine. Before I was in, women were only nurses and yeomen. We got into technical rates, no problem. We got on ships, no problem. Subs? I think it will work once the details are smoothed out.

Subs are not that much more isolated than a ship at sea. Yes, the quarters are close, but I've been on subs (touring) and dividing the space for a bit of privacy wouldn't be too hard. The women who volunteer for subs will have to want to be there. I'm betting birth control will be mandatory.

People simply don't like change, or having their ideas challenged. Women on subs is a new idea, there will be resistance to the changes!

Idk if my BF decided to go sub, hope he didn't.... I'm not worried about my boyfriend cheating either but I don't like the sounds of it either.. it's just not exactly an ideal situation...
Comment by NewNavyGF (ship10,div167) on April 29, 2010 at 10:31am
ok i'm kinda upset to read that they are now deciding to make Submarines co-ed. Are there any other Sub GF's, fiance's or wives that think putting woman on subs are a bad idea? I'm seeing alot of pregnancies and adultery happening. I'm not worried about my boyfriend cheating but I just see this as a bad decision, considering the tight living spaces and the isolation of being down there for months......
