Hoppi, I know the difference, but I've seen ordmods after a dependent was acquired overseas, after a sailor married. Happened at least three times just in our shop alone. I was wondering if overseas orders are modified differently because stateside dependents aren't command sponsored, but they are when they are overseas. Well, not the same way? Does the question make sense that way?

they told him something about a DD form? lackland told him he needed to get a letter from his new command at travis afb saying he would not be living in the barracks (which is weird because that shouldn't be an option since we're married) in order to get the money.

i'm just worried because although we have money saved up, we just paid off all our credit cards and i'd like to keep it that way. when we move we need to find a place, buy furniture, and buy a car.

hoppi- he is currently at lackland afb for a school, we will be going to travis afb as our first duty station. we have been married over a year, long before he joined the navy, we have our written official orders, and we will be moving ourselves because we literally have only a mattess and some kitchen apliances to move! lol

anyone know what the papers my husband has to fill out in order to a) get reimbursed for our move or b) get the 65% up front?

we're getting the run around from admin at his a school and the base we're moving to. I'd prefer to get the 65% up front...but anyone have a clue as to when we would get reimbursed if we took the other route?

Hoppi, I've seen it happen overseas, would that be a different case because if the command sponsorship? I hate to give out bad advice, thanks!

Marci, if you weren't married for a few weeks when the orders were cut, they were not accompanied. He should ask about order modification ASAP. It takes time, but he can pursue it immediately. When I was in, even single sailors could have small household goods shipments, but that may have changed. I had a box shipped from my C school to Japan. He would have to ask the Personal Property Office, plus it would say on his orders if a shipment is authorized. He needs to ask these questions at PSD, ask the people who file the paperwork. Sometimes his buddies and even his chief may have old or incorrect info.

the anticipation is always a lot worse. you don't know what to expect and you're scared like hell just thinking about his leaving. it's almost a relief when they leave.. kind of not really, obviously.. i cried so much the week before my bf left. you'll get through it though, just remember it's not goodbye. it's see you later. stay strong for him, and write write write!! they need to know that they have you there still, supporting them every step of the way.

Ugh so today we have are pretty much almost done packing...by tomorrow night we should be moved out of our apartment..I'll be staying with his family while he's gone...I work till Friday and will then get the last few days to spend with my hunny before he leaves for BC on the 4th..We're having a going away party for him on the 2nd and he and i are getting a hotel the 3rd and i'm dropping him off the 4th...
Today has been emotional...Packing up our apartment has been like putting the last year of our lives into boxes...Its letting the harsh reality that he is leaving so soon burn into my brain...I stood there holding a picture of us in my hands and started crying...I miss him so much already and he's still here!! I really think the anticipation of him leaving is driving me more crazy then after he actually leaves...Is that possible??? I don't know how you girls do this...but you are proof I can get through it...*Sigh* There is a light at the end of tunnel...I hope

newnavygf- same with my boyfriend! he sent a message on my FB im like flipping out! it will be so nice to actually communicate now!
