For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Liv- I cried at my first letter from bootcamp because my BFs RDC told him that i was probably sleeping with his best friend already. And the letter went on to say if you want to break up or cheat its ok... i will understand and be fine. I was so shocked by this because he would never talk like that before.
but everything is ok for us. Going to PIR on 4/30!!! can't wait to see him and show him that i am only his :)

Yes, when DH was out to sea talking about me a lot, one of his supervisors told him "I was probably home cheating on him already". The nerve of someone to say something so discouraging to a newbie about someone they have never even met. I have never and will never cheat on my sailor! Man I was mad. But then I asked hubs, does that man cheat on his wife and DH said "all the time". And I realized this man was trying to unload HIS guilt onto other people. You know, get people to join in his misery and feel ok to do what he does. You just have to trust your sailor is better than that.

You do have to be enrolled in Tricare too, so start looking at the TRicare site and earlier discussions about which would work best for you. It is cheap, dang near free, depending on whether you go standard or prime. I do our paperwork for that, so you need to know if he took steps to enroll you or if you need to make sure it gets done. I'm on Prime as a retiree, only $465 a year with low copays. Perfect, because I can go to base. Standard works better for others. Dental is not included, that costs at least twice as much.

The service member enrolls you in DEERS while he is being processing in at boot camp. It has to happen before you can get the ID card, but you aren't part of the enrollment process, so don't worry. Once the form arrives, you're in DEERS.
