I'm a Navy Wife and I created this group back when I was a girlfriend and my now husband had gone to bootcamp. Its funny because i joined this website when they had under 50 members. This website has been sooooo helpful and I met so many people on here that gave great advice. I made this group so that we could all come together and give eachother advice and share ideas. I see that this group is growing more and more by the day, Im happy to see that because so many wives/fiances/and girlfriends are clueless when it comes the military lifestyle. Not knowing what to expect and not knowing about deployments, bootcamp, duty stations, etc. I want this to be the place you all recommend because so many people on this site are knowledgeable and very helpful. Once again thanks for joining my group and i hope you get all the information you need. I dont get to log on as much as i used to but i try my best to get on here. So if u have any questions feel free to make a discussion topic and Im positive that it will get answered if not, inbox me :-) Take Care ♥

Some guys think no one will notice if they do wear their civvies, but Chicago is crawling with active duty Navy who can spot a new sailor out of uniform and will say something to them!

Dumb question....the weekend of PIR when my husband gets liberty and is off base with us, does he have to wear his unifrom the whole time or do we have to bring clothes for him to wear?

He will sign up for MyPay, and be given a PIN. Supposed to be only him accessing it, right? wink wink. That is where his LES (leave and earning statement) can be viewed and printed. A little tricky to decipher until you get the hang of it.

Hey all! my husband is currently at boot camp and found out yesterday his PIR is may 7th. I'm sure it will be somewhat warm there so I was wanting some ideas of what to wear to his PIR? I wanna look amazing for him :) all ideas are appreciated!

Tina and Halfofawhole, thank you! I'm going to print and give to my daughter in law. And I love the frame! I'm trying to get her to join Navy4Moms and join this group. She just told me she's scared to death for him to leave and doesn't know what she will do without him. Makes me tear up to hear that.......

Hi Ladies! Okay, I am a Navy Mom so what am I doing here you ask? LOL! Well, my oldest son (my youngest is a rescue swimmer) has been in for 2 1/2 years. He is coming home for 2 weeks and then will go BACK to Great Lakes for corpsman school. His wife will stay here in Texas while he is in school. They've been married for almost a year and have been living in Norfolk. What I would like is for you to direct me to poems, sayings, etc. about being a Navy wife. I'm so thankful for her support of my son and I know it isn't easy for her so I want to share some things with her. TIA!

Get a sturdy plastic folder or envelope and be certain to keep each and every receipt, ticket stub, gas receipt, etc, do not simply shove them in your purse. Start the habit now.

Yes, the ten days is a variable, he must get in touch with his command the minute he has orders and start talking to his LPO/chief about the move. This is why asking for a sponsor helps so much, they can help new families figure out the best way to handle things. Some sponsors are great, some suck, but do try.

They do pay for airfare, the travel office issues the tickets. Althugh I've only ever traveled by air overseas, so I may be wrong! Driving is a DIY move, with reimbursement which can take some time. What about a car? Because you must have one in SD.

You don't have to sign up for housing to get the temporary lodging allowance, but there is paperwork for it. he needs to ask as soon as he checks in. I don't recall if it is reimbursement or money up front. The Navy does do the ten days, he has to let his command know.

Does he have his hard copy orders yet? If he does, I think he can sign up online at the Lemoore housing website. If nothing else, he can call right away and find out how to get on the list. Has he asked for a sponsor? That would be a senior sailor who can help with these things and show him how things are done.

The Navy pays for ten days in the lodge or other motel. The minute you get the orders with a report date on them, make reservations at the lodge! They will not do that for you. Sometimes people have to rent an apartment while waiting for housing, then decide not to move again after all. You never know until you get there if that will be the case for you.

With a daughter you will qualify for a two bedroom unit.
