Hannah, child custody will have everything to do with who has a say in where the child lives. Were you married to the father? Because what's in the divorce decree can influence custody arrangements. If not, as the mother, you have full custody, and guess what, you can live where you please with your child. He'd better be on the birth certificate and paying child support promptly if he thinks he's going to take you to court.

My husband had full joint custody of his son, but his mother lived on the east coast and we were in Japan/Cali. She rarely let him come visit. We didn't have the money to go to court, and she would have taken it out on the child. It was terrible. If you can settle things peacefully with the father, do try. At least don't bad mouth him in front of your child.

In the meantime, do not say a word more to him about your future plans. I'd even take this to private conversations so there's no record online.

hannah...i have a son from a previous relationship and I am now married to a sailor. I tried to fight to move to be with my husband but my ex adn I have 50/50 so it was going to cost me about 35,000 to fight so we decided to just wait till my husband gets orders here, how much custody do u have? thats all that really matters

ladies,i figures of all the groups that could help me this one could. My fiance leaves next tue for basic and then off to A and C school for at least a year.After schools we are planning on getting married..My problem is that i have a little girl and her father and his family are going to fight me in court if i try to move to where my fiance will be stationed and i have no idea what to do.If i go i have to send her back here for weeks at a time( mind you she is only 9 months old) but if i stay here i can go as much as i want to see him at his base...i am so conflicted and have no idea what to do. i don't know if i am being selfish cause of my daughter or what..can some one help me?

get BAH...that way you can find something that more fits your needs and desires. and most of the time your BAH will cover all or most of your rent or mortage. My husband bought a house and uses his BAH topay towards his mortage, He uses his BAH as an investment, If you live on base, after those 20 years you have nothing to show for it and you have to move. living on base is liek paying rent at your work

Navygurl, if you have orders, you can make the reservations at the lodge. Google the housing office and call them. They help with listings of off base housing too. There's a site for that... I never had to use it, too new to me, but does anyone here know what I'm talking about?
