I'm a Navy Wife and I created this group back when I was a girlfriend and my now husband had gone to bootcamp. Its funny because i joined this website when they had under 50 members. This website has been sooooo helpful and I met so many people on here that gave great advice. I made this group so that we could all come together and give eachother advice and share ideas. I see that this group is growing more and more by the day, Im happy to see that because so many wives/fiances/and girlfriends are clueless when it comes the military lifestyle. Not knowing what to expect and not knowing about deployments, bootcamp, duty stations, etc. I want this to be the place you all recommend because so many people on this site are knowledgeable and very helpful. Once again thanks for joining my group and i hope you get all the information you need. I dont get to log on as much as i used to but i try my best to get on here. So if u have any questions feel free to make a discussion topic and Im positive that it will get answered if not, inbox me :-) Take Care ♥

Anti M they are different rates. She has now completed C school and on her way to her duty station. He is in A school then will have C school also. I know that they will eventually get married but I don't want them to rush things thinking that they will be together since they are married. Do you know if they get married before he completes A school will that have any bearing on where his duty station will be?

I was active duty married to active duty. They can just get married, although the logistics of that can be tricky (leave days while the county clerk is open, so on). Next, since they are both active duty, NEITHER one is a dependent. They will be listed on each other's page two, but they are not dependents. The BAH situation is different, I'd have to look it up, changed since I was in. I thnk they each get full single, but again, I'd need to look it up.

Next, they may request spouse co-location. Notice I said REQUEST. NO guarantees they will be in the same geographical location, although the Navy does try for morale reasons. They cannot be at the same command, they may be at the same base. 50 miles apart? Seriously, THAT is a fairy tale. If the Navy can offer them co-location, one must be on shore duty, one must be on sea duty. Marrying before either has orders in hand will be helpful. Are they different rates? That helps, if they are the same rate, they will be competing for the same billets (open slots).

AS for one paygrade apart, I haven't heard that one yet, I'd have to look up the regulations. This is all online, although I know it can be hard to find.

Best of luck to them.

Thanks ladies! They are both enlisted. I am assuming that if they get married before he completes A school then that will determine where he is sent for his duty station.

Matt's mom- they would have to let the Navy know that they are getting married because it involves a lot more paperwork. As far as getting married... if they are married than they can not be stationed at a base any farther than 50 miles apart. but if one of them is in reserves and the other full-time, then they can definitely be at the same base. Hope that helps. I think it would be best to talk to their recruiter to get as much info as possible.

Hi ladies I have some questions and I thought that maybe someone from your group could tell me from your experiences. My son is currently in A school. His girlfriend is in the Navy also. They are located at different bases in different states. If they get married before he finishes A school how would the Navy handle it? Do you have to let them know that you are getting married so that they know you will have a dependent? Or is it totally different since she is in the Navy also? Do they make an effort to place the spouses at the same duty station? Any advice would be helpful.

hopefully things will level out soon when he gets to A school. I have been on the phone alllll morning back and forth with different people trying to get my military ID situation straightened out...finally found a Mrs. Bing @ the DEERS project office and they are supposed to be sending me out a new DEERS packet because he did fill out the DD1172 for me. I am enrolled just don't have my form :(
