While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Anti M, thank you for the info! Yeah the Detailer did say to him "it's a good think now she can prove to you if she can handle it" which kinda made me wonder if he was letting his personal opinion on the matter effect what he was saying. My fiancé is just worried about doing something that could get him in trouble, but I told him what you said so he is planning on looking into it a little more.

You can ask on Reddit on r/usmilitaryso or r/newtothenavy too. Of course someone will say wait, someone always does, but they will give straight answers.

I was active duty, I have never heard of a billet being canceled because a sailor got married. NEVER. Now, does all the paperwork become a hassle? Yes. If it is an overseas homeport, does the spouse stay behind? Probably.
Many folks in the Navy think it is important to go through a deployment before marriage. They have valid points, there is a lot of stress and many failed marriages. BUT ... the Navy cannot legally tell someone not to marry. They can take away clearances if the bride is foreign, but that is about it.
I got married on leave, as an E-6 to an E-6, and neither of us had permission. We also had separate orders, but that's another story.
Don't tell the detailer anything. He issues the orders, you get on with your life. Maybe you'll be apart for a while, but that happens.

@ Danny, you must have the signed DD 1172 to get an ID card. Use the RAPIDS locator to find the nearest location to get an ID card. I'd google the url for you, but I am in a rush.

Hello all,
I have a question regarding military ID,my husband is in BTC right now his PIR IS ON 07/17.
He called me on his first week asking for some documents.Its been while since he left on May 20th,he told me yesterday when he called me that he didn't hear nothing from insurance or ID,he said they will make another appointment.
Any chance I can go to nearby Recruit Officer with our marriage certificate,my DV and my SSN to get my military ID without him?or we still need wait till they give him the form DD 1172??

Hmmm that makes me wonder why the Detailer would say that? Hopefully his sponsor could atleast point him in the direction of who to talk to. We have had the hardest time trying to get married, we wanted to while he was in DEP but his recruiter said that was against the rules also, even though I know people have done it before...

From what I understood the "sponsor" simply helps with getting the service member set up - picks them up from the airport, getting them signed in and helps them around at their new command but wouldn't necessarily be able to give advice on when to get married. You can get married whenever you want to. It may make more paperwork for his detailer and I wonder if it would change his orders? I got my military ID a weekend after we were married in our home state - we went to a local office.

Anti M, the guy that gives out the orders, I think the correct term is the Detailer, told him that he wasn't aloud to and it would cancel his orders? My fiancé was very unhappy with this news and is planning on asking his sponsor what the deal is. Hopefully they say that it is ok for us to get married!
