He will love getting all your letters! I try and make mine funny, and I write a lot of inspirational quotes, and at the end of each letter I always write "You got this baby, you are almost to the end. Stay Strong physically and Mentally. I'll see you when you're off work!" or something similar. he loves that I always tell him that. Make sure when you write them you always give them inspiration to keep going and pushing through all the hard stuff they have to endure. Also, know that the first letter and first phone call will be hard to hear. most of the guys are very much home sick, and going through a lot of hard transition the first few weeks and haven't quite adjusted. however the following weeks after that it'll get easier on them and you will start to hear the maturity change in them - it's so awesome to see.. or hear.. over the phone haha! So all the more reason to keep staying strong and positive for them. If they know you are doing okay it is one less thing for them to worry about while in bootcamp. Stay strong ladies, you got this! We all got this!
Jackie And Jennifer, my boyfriend left May 6th for bootcamp, and I was in the same position as you both are right now. I didn't think it would get any easier, it was hard to breathe, I was having anxiety and crying all the time even at work. It's hard when you're with someone for so long and you live with them and then BOOM they're gone. However, it's been almost a month and a half and I can confidently say it DOES get easier. When you get their first "hello, I miss you" call, when you get their first letters, all of it helps ease the longing of missing him so much. You also discover an inner strength inside you that you never knew you had! I surrounded myself for the first month with all my closest girl friends, I started a scrapbook, i printed out TONS of 4x6 photos and sent them little by little in each letter I wrote to my SR (he LOVED that - I also sent him stamps and a phone card). And when he calls me on Sundays it's such a blurr of a conversation filled with happiness (because it's so surreal and we both talk at like 100mph to try and get everything in), but it's what helps me realize this is the "new norm" and we will be okay. I have 22 days until his PIR and I couldn't be more happy. I made the center piece for his divsion for Sarge's meet and greet, i'm making door banners, all the travel stuff is booked. I literally am staying busy all the time to make sure I dont start getting upset. TRUST me you both will be okay, it is definitely hard the first month, but you ladies will come out stronger than ever! Count the weekends, not the days, and research research research, so you know what is going on with him while he is in bootcamp! join the PIR groups on here and on Facebook. Connect with other individuals who will be out at the same graduation as you! There is so much support everywhere, take advantage of it and you will be fine <3. Okay that's my 2 cents. let me know if you have any questions :)
I know it doesn't seem like it will get any easier, but oddly enough it does. When you get your first letter from him you will be so so happy! This really is going to be one of the hardest things you will ever go through but you do adjust. Just gotta stay strong!
Haha, agree with Anti M. My hubby also heard it's more strict on the East Coast than on the West Coast. The only time we worry about it is when he's actually AT his command, which is really the only time he's in uniform, now that I think about it. I bring him dinner on his duty nights and he still kisses me goodbye in uniform, but he wouldn't do that during working hours/in front of superiors. And as soon as he gets home, he changes clothes.
