Our son let us know that there is a train from Groton to Providence. We booked his flight and he checked the shedules - he will be able to take a cab from the base to the train stations, train to Providence, then cab it to the airport. Looks like it will work in terms of coordinating all of the various legs appropriately coming and going. A pain, but it will work. Now, we just have to wait and make sure that leave chit gets approved!
Good morning all. I have been following the discussion about the shuttle. . . .I have purchased my son's ticket from Providence and like most of you have not been able to get solid info about the shuttle. He does not call that often and when he does he never seems to have answers about things like that. I will keep asking and hopefully he will tell me something definite soon.
Cheri hope all goes well with your son and his flight stuff. On a light note, I thought the Navy was suppose to make these guys grow up and learn to take care of their stuff LOL .
I know it is hard to get info out of them a lot of times. I know when I talk to my grandson I have to ask a lot of questions to find things out and then a lot of times the answer is "I don't know"
As far as booking flights and getting to the airport what he told me daughter was to book it from Hartford, Providence or Boston she booked from providence and he told her "just book the flight I will get to the airport don't worry"
Hope you all have a fabulous Thanksgiving holiday and week.
@ My sailor's ladybug (356: Thanks I guess I should do some more digging :-) enjoy your visit.
@ rlbly (ship 07 div 358): Are the flights cheaper out of Hartford than Providence? Still no word on my son's leave yet but..........i'm a planner LOL he's kinda fly by the seat of his pants makes me crazy. Those taxi prices are insane. I have more than fingers crossed LOL toes too :-)
P.S. He called today ya'll didn't act like anyone has said anything to him LOL keeping fingers crossed about that as well.........but he called ;-)
I too have been looking for a way to get my son to airport for flights out on christmas break. I have not found any shuttles to either airport ( hartford or providence) I have found out taxi fare is $147.00 to hartford. I told my son to find some buddy to share the fare. The taxi service will bring a minivan and take 4 guys and their bags in one taxi if they call ahead. This would at least make the fare managable. Hope we can all get the bugs worked out and get our boys home for one more Christmas with the family. keeping my fingers crossed.
my son's friend will be stationed on the Connecticut, does anyone know how it's rotation works?
Thanks sheilamf :-)
