If you could locate the telephone number to the Liberty center, I think that is where the shuttles run from...not for sure....when we were leaving the Liberty center, a van pulled in, and I asked my son what that was, he said the "Liberty shuttle", it might have been the one for the mall, not sure, but would not hurt to call and check.

The resteraunts are few and far between in Groton, I would be surprised if alot of them are open, most close early on a normal day.  I know Groton Townhouse is open 24 hours, and the ones at Mohegan Sun will be open.

We stayed at the Ramada Inn, both times we went, about 4 miles from the base, nice and quiet area.

If your Sailor is blue card, he can even stay with you.  If he is yellow, he will have to be back at base by midnight.

@Pentwater98: It would be a rare occasion if your son got to come home so early after boot camp, and like they said, he has to earn his Liberty

@everybody booking airplane tickets: I booked my sons ticket home in September (that he had to cancel) through Continental, make sure you book a military fare, it is usually a little more expensive, but it is refundable.  If you book early you can get the cheaper fare, and you have the security of cancelling with no penalty fees...and if you have to cancel, you will have one year to use the ticket

Pentwater, I doubt it. The have to "phase up" to get more liberties & priviledges. Initially, they are limited to what they can do.
