Annette, I bet your and your girlfriends had little bitty bikinis on too!  ;)  Sounds like fun with all those buff Sailors running around!!!

ProudNavyMom, I'm so envious that you get to see your Sailor soon-I'm so excited for you!!  Please give mine a big, Navy Mom hug for me!  :)

Annette you lucky girl!!! Hahaha how fun it must have been growing up near Rock Lake and sunning with the sailors around ;) hahaha it looks beautiful! My son and his friends also took a pic. Looking forward to seeing them all or at least some of them in two weeks :D. God bless them all <3

Well I had an email with a comment here about sailors at Rock Lake. When I was old enough to drive but still young enough to have base access as a dependent, my girlfriends and I used to swimming at Rock Lake. It was beautiful, surrounded by big granite rocks and boulders to sun on. And of course, sailors. And they didn't wear the long board shorts that are so popular today! It was great fun. Now my son says it is a hazard zone, no swimming allowed, but apparently guys fish there, which cracks me up. It is right behind Thresher Hall. My son has sent some pics of he and friends having a bbq there and fire pit in fall, and covered in snow and ice in winter this year.

Kevsmom I saw that pic on facebook-I didn't even recognize your son!!!  I know a couple of others in the photo but wow, how everyone has changed!  Looks like they had a nice time, well deserved too.  A celebration of their first year in the Navy!  Maybe you could post it here?  If not you can send it to me and I can post it.  :) I'll send you a message!

Oh and glad you're staying here too!  I couldn't even imagine going through everything we have without the love and support or our Navy Mom friends!!

Can I preface this by saying sorry if I get my comment walls messed up and answer to people on the wrong one..duh. Does anyone else ever do that? Good grief :-/

Thank you Johanna, lol I haven't packet yet! I read on Sub Moms you're going to Crete how exciting, have a safe and fantastic trip. God Bless both your boys!

Thank you ladies for the well wishes I will pass them onto to my son. Nope, never been to Hawaii but so many have I know we will be provided with any info we might need. A friend whose husband was stationed there mentioned the Hale Koa Hotel for military families. Going to start a Hawaii savings fund!!

mrsb I have a picture of your son with mine with their buddies at I think it's called Rock Lake on base Saturday. They were enjoying the weather and mine who glows in the dark got a nice bright red sunburn. He said it was worth it :-) I can't for the life of me me figure out where your cell# is if you want to PM me I can forward it to you.

mrsb you're absolutely right they could definitely end up being together and how awesome would that be. Mine has said that will be the hardest to leave all of the friendships he's made.  NFM's has been a complete Godsend from the day he left so I'm staying right here :-D

Navymom26, Kevsmom and ProudNavyMom-thanks!!!  And yes, they sure do grow up fast, especially this past year!

Kevsmom, I'm so excited for your fine son and for you!!  Pearl is so beautiful!!  I hope you and husband will go visit.  My son's childhood buddy from across the street is there on a carrier I think.  He loves it there, sends pics of his feet in the sand!  I'm so glad to hear that YOUR son got his first choice!!!  I bet it feels weird to be moving on next month and exciting at the same time.  Hey, you never know, they may all end up in the same place-different jobs but the same boat-who knows??  I know that they will always be friends though, they went through so much together, and still hang out, which I think is very cool!  And yes, you must continue on here for as long as it takes!!!  You're first among us and can guide us when it's our turn.  So happy for you Kevsmom!!!  Bravo Zulu!!

Kevsmom93 - so happy for your family and your son!  Mine says he will find out next week.  He has the same wish list.  I hope it works for him too!  Mom and Dad are waiting here in Florida - I have never been to Hawaii but if he is there, I will surely go.  I know that my son is more than ready to move on and do something new and exciting.  He wants to actually do what he has learned in this past year.

I've hit a new stage in the Navy Mom journey with so much news I don't even know how to digest it all.  Our son graduates his A school on May 8th. He has been given a detachment date which means he will get to come home before arriving at his permanent duty station.
He's going to Hawaii!  Wow, his Dad and I are thrilled for him, it was his top pick on his dream sheet. We know how fortunate he is since it was based on the needs of the Navy. He will be on a fast attack which is what he's wanted from the beginning.

Can't believe that now I'm the mom writing this stuff instead of reading it from others. Thank goodness I've had all these months to learn from you :-)

So, here is my first question. I've looked up his boat and there isn't a group listed for it. He's been assigned to the USS Columbus SSN 762 Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. He's already tried to contact the Ombudsman and their email got kicked back as no longer existing. I asked him if he would mind if I put a shout out on NFM's to see if that would help.

mrsb and ProudNavyMom#1 and I can hardly believe it. Makes me exited and teary eyed at the same time to know our boys will be going their separate ways. I guess mine will be first. I can't wait to continue the adventure and share in this amazing experience with you both and everyone here on NFM's.
