Cheri...agreed! That was my original plan. Their breakfast was good. But I the casino has a few different options. And I thought it would be a little adventure for the boys. They can't gamble, though... which is fine.

Kris, I was there last weekend. We stayed @ The Navy Lodge... No restaurant there. And they're already booked for T/Ging. We went to breakfast at The Groton Townhouse for Breakfast while there. They have T/Ging specials.

We will also be going back next weekend. I think we'll be taking our son & 2 of his friends to Mohegan Sun Casino. Lots of options there ... 20 minutes away. Look @ their website "specials". See you there!?

Hi danagirl,

My son is on the SSGN Florida. Sonar Tech. What boat is your son on?

Deep breath sbarber - I can't imagine that the MC would be upset over an email asking about shuttle service, or that he would prevent your son from coming home over Christmas or any other time because of it.  He's human and knows that these new familes are trying to figure things out.  Most MC's are pretty cool guys actually, so maybe just wait and see.  I did talk to my son just a little bit ago and he seemed to think that they weren't going to even be running the shuttle when the base is shutdown for the holidays, so we are trying to figure out how that will work.  Maybe we can figure out all of the various schedules, once they get their leave chits and see if some of them can catch cabs together or something.

I really think the MC isn't going to be upset though.  :-)

I have no idea they could have just said they didn't know I would have tried to figure it out another way. I'm freaking ou,t of course they were very professional about it when forwarding it on they said they didn't know that information could someone else help me and it went to 2 others before it hit his email. Why would they send it to him its a freaking shuttle OMG

So if you haven't already don't contact FFSC they forwarded my email to Command Master Chief at Naval Submarine School OMG my son is going to never speak to me again I am freaking out.......he may not even try to come home now, what have I done. I mistakenly thought that Fleet Family Support would know shuttle info to the airports. I am bawling like a baby right now OMG he is going to be furious with me. So I hope noone else has done this save yourself and your child I will just take this one for the team.

@ Sheilamf: Thank you so much, I called the MWR 800# and went to their website ugh not much of a discount I guess its because of the holidays. He just needs to get off his butt and realize that waiting is costing him $. But what can you do LOL.

@ Cheri : I did that yesterday as well I got an email this morning telling me they were working on shuttle info for me and to expect to hear from them soon. Yeah someone to help LOL I think I just want to see him so badly he was injured in boot camp so in the last 6mths I have spent may 13hrs with him...:-( so hard but I'm trying to get used to it.

@Kris: I'm so sorry that his leave was denied OMG its truly a blessing that you live so close and can go to him and so sweet of you to take care of the gf. I hope someone who lives there can help with hotel and restraunt info. I saw that they have the Navy lodge there and I think in previous post that one of the wifes posted about some restraunts.

Kris - so sorry about your son's leave.  I know exactly how you feel my grandson put in for leave and was already to come home before he started A school in Oct and he got denied, again he did nothing wrong but when you get your hopes up and then it doesn't happen everyone is very disappointed

But we did get some good news on Tuesday he will be home Dec 17th for two weeks, can't wait we have not seen him since PIR in early May

Good morning ladies!  I found out last night my son's Thanksgiving leave was denied!  He is heart broken and we are disappointed to say the least!! His GF was coming home from college and they were to spend the weekend together... I guess they ALL can't go home? He didnt get in trouble and he is in the top 10% of his class... UGH!!!!  Maybe its because we live 21/2 hours away, and they figure we can see him more often then some sailors can see their families...  This really took the wind out of his sails!!!  Soooo we will be eating thanksgiving dinner with him there... anyone know where we can do this?? And as an early bday present to him i guess i will get a hotel room for his GF to stay in while she is home... anyone know where? I assume he is still allowed his normal curfew and has to be back by midnight.... i feel so bad for him... he is truely heartbroken... i know the navy is  the navy and the only guarantee is that there is none... but man!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Any info on good restaurants/hotels would really be appreciated!!!!!!!  Thank you!
