For those of you who live in Groton. We are planning a trip in mid October. Is this a good time to see the leaf change of color? We are from Florida so we do not get much of a seasonal change Looking forward to a visit with our sailor. What is the blue card?
Thanks

Hello Moms! I haven't been on this sight for a while but as my sons "A" School Graduation approaches I've decided I would reach out for some assistance.  I plan to attend his graduation along wit my two younger boys and my mother.  I will be flying into LGA. I know I will have to catch the train and go over to Groton. Can anyone tell me what to expect as far as the graduation itself. Where can I get the information to attend and any neccessary stuff I might need to attend. I would appreciate any and all advice I might get.  Thanks

Tuesday July 8, leave the house by 7 to get him to LAX to head to Guam. 30 minutes up the road, a stream of profanity comes from the back seat! He left his NWU folder with orders, plus his sealed medical records behind. Luckily we had given plenty of time, so back we went, poor guy tripped and fell on the sidewalk after getting out of car to run in house (luckily his dress whites were unharmed!). Back on the road, getting him to the airport in plenty of time. But he didn't really relax until he was seated on plane, poor guy. Change planes in HI, he said just enough time to get to other plane and board (luckily the airport in Honolulu is not terribly huge). He arrived in Guam a little after 6 in the evening July 9 after 2-6 hour flights and crossing the international date line. He said it wasn't a duty driver who picked him up, but a guy from the class before his that he knew! He drove him around the island a bit before heading to base. He says his barracks is really nice, roommate gone because his boat is in HI with RIMPAC. He might be brought there or not, depends on whether the boat wants him there. It is now 7:40am Monday July 14 where he is!

Hello ladies! I have been lurking, but not posting, but here we go! On June 19th, our sailor graduated A school and is now an STS. He told us he was on hold for awhile while paperwork got straightened out. He and his buddy shared a congratulatory cake made by Kristen. On Saturday morning the 21st, I had to work. I was greatly looking forward to the end of the school year (I work part time at a middle school) on Tuesday the 24th, and my sister's arrival on Monday the 23! Shortly after 6 I stumble down the hall to turn on the coffee maker, which I had set up but I forgot to set the switch for it to come on before I woke! I get to the end of the hall and see a pile of stuff just inside the front door behind the love seat. I wondered for a couple seconds at what I was looking at, then I recognized the huge duffel from the World Scout Jamboree! I gasped audibly, and my eyes watered as I went around the corner to see my sailor sleeping on the couch! I thought for half a second about leaving him to sleep but that was ridiculous. Besides, he was already awake, had heard me gasp. Oh, hugs and kisses and tears! It was beautiful! So glad we had sent him a key to our new place!

His friend picked him up from LAX around 10:30, and their first stop was In n Out! After picking up a 6 pack they headed home, with sailor using GPS on his phone to find our new place. They got in sometime after 2:00 am. He said the first door he saw he opened, found the garage and threw his sea bag in there. He saw the slider to our bedroom, realized what it was and kept going. He and his friend were carrying his huge, heavy duffel together, and dropped it right near our bedroom, we didn't hear a thing! He got in the front door and Daphne (our doggie) was whiney and groany and wagging all over, so happy to see him, he was afraid that would wake us but it didn't. He went to close our bedroom door so he wouldn't disturb us, unaware of the heavy, antique flat iron that we use for a doorstop, that clunked over, but didn't wake us! After having a beer, his friend went to his dad's house and Dennis went to sleep on the couch. Oldest daughter came out at one point to get a drink of water (thank goodness she put on a bathrobe, she doesn't wear much to bed!), saw them, said, "awkward" (because she almost didn't grab her bathrobe!) and went back to bed. Was not even sure she was really seeing what she was seeing!

We had a wonderful time, I cooked some of his favorite things, crossing stuff off the list he made before BC (the only thing left is lasagna, and if he ok with the non-traditional one I made while he was here, I got that covered too!). We played some UNO, rummy, Phase 10, Monopoly. And we enjoyed each other's company. He spent a couple nights with his friend in Riverside (these 2 have known each other since 2nd grade, he was the sailor's ride from the airport). He rents a home there with some others from his college snowboarding group, but looking to move as soon as a job is secured, he just graduated with 2 degrees. He saw some other friends as well, but spent plenty of time at home.

Fathomom mercy. I hear a new one every day! Hard orders? Mrsb so true, hurry up and wait! I keep all our boys in prayer. They are so ready to go on their first assignments! Hang in there mommas!
Now my concern is will my son need to be at first assignment ASAP? Should I rebook everything and go to his A school grad? Mercy. Jesus I trust in You.
God bless us all.
