Has anyone had their son marry and get their wife overseas? My son is having trouble as his orders last year were "unaccompanied" as he was not married. I know he is having to do a lot of stuff to get changed to married status and the navy will not move her??  I would love to chat with anyone who could shed light on this. Thanks!

My son finished his A school (STS), stopped home for a visit, and is now on the plane to Guam via Hawaii. It was a wonderful visit, and I hope he has a wonderful time in Guam and in the Navy. My hubby was FTB on sub, USS Ulysses S. Grant SSBN 631

Knitmare. I hope your son has a better experience as an MA there than mine has. We are also very close and there is no support for that at all through the MA program. My son was the since Feb 2013 and it has gone down hill since. He was never allowed leave to come home to visit. There was always an excuse as to why and when he went to counseling for support from homesickness he became the "blacksheep" please keep close touch with your sailor as much as you can. And if financially you can visit Please do so. My.son is now being separated from the Navy (and I don't mean to sound disgruntled) because he couldn't "cope" with the homesickness and it led to depression etc. I will send prayers up that you all have a better time. Good luck and God bless.

Well I have not posted in a while so to catch up with you guys- my sailor came home end of May for a quick visit, what a grueling trip, and the last leg from Houston had a 6 hour weather hold, he was pretty tired by the time he got back. We had his wedding after that in our yard, perfect weather and about 90 friends family here. The 2 weeks after that flew by and he has been gone now around 10 days. Pretty quiet around here, but I know it is a lot tougher on him and his new bride as she will not join him for about 6 months. Just trying to stay busy now with work and gardening, but boy I sure miss him

My son arrived in Guam last August. He really loves it there. He has been out to sea since March. He lives on a sub tender named the frank cable that is stationed in Guam. He has been to many places such as Japan, Thailand, Dubai, Korea. I was not looking forward to him being inGuam either cuz I wouldn't get to see him. We get to talk on the phone and online a lot. If that helps. You will be so proud of him. Praying for his safe trip.

I just leaned that one of my hometown journalists has moved to Guam!! When my sailor arrives there, I hope they can connect.

My sailor is still on leave...I am in denial. I KNOW that my heart will be crushed when he goes )':

Hi knitmare (love the name!), the distance is very difficult. It takes awhile to adjust.  You will get used to it. You will figure out what time is good to call, skype, email, etc. There is a Facebook page Guam Navy moms and family that is real supportive also. Feel free to ask any questions and I will try to answer as best I can.....all of us will. This page goes through it's ups and downs of being active and not active. lol

Take care

Hi everyone,

My son is a new MA stationed  in Guam. It's driving me crazy! We were real close and now 7500 miles away.  How do you cope.
