For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Weddings in Hawaii (Oahu)......info needed
My son is planning to be married next year. His fiancee is from Aiea so they will be married there. Would appreciate any help as far as locations for wedding and reception, wedding planners, etc.
Don't have a definite date yet because they are having problems finding a venue they can afford.
Would really appreciate any information you can share with me.

Rhonda8881, My wife and I got married at the Haiku Gardens in Kaneohe. Is owned by Haleiwa Joes last time I checked. Beautiful spot. There is a beautiful Lagoon set in a large depression with tropical trees, bamboo with the cliffs (Pali) in the background. So you see no buildings. They now have a wedding chapel near the lagoon with the restaurant on the hill leading down to the lagoon. To say it is beautiful does not do it justice.

They have a large restaurant overlooking the lagoon and the chapel. We had our reception there. Now that was in 1976 so always check the prices.
There are plenty of beautiful gardens with Huge Banyan trees for shade. Moanalua Park is one my wife just told me. I bet there is a registry of places to get married on Oahu. Trouble will be what beautiful place that you can afford. You can rent a restaurant in many places for a reception.

Never had a wedding there but we visited the, and excuse my spelling of it but the wiamai falls. I know I didn't spell it right. It up the north shore. If I was getting married again that is where I would do it. It is so beautiful. Just a suggestion. Don't know what it cost but in Hawaii it will be expensive no matter what. Congrats to your son and his future wife. Good luck in them finding something.

Just an FYI!
My sailor and his fiancee are getting married at the DAV Center in Honolulu. It is very reasonably priced and downright cheap compared to the "resorts" on the island. It took 6 or 7 months for them to find a place they could afford, but now the plans are falling into place. -

Just an FYI for future reference.
My sailor got married at the Chapel at the DAV Center and had the reception in one of the halls on the grounds. The contract for the chapel was obtained through Best Bridal.
The chapel is small, only seats 40 but has standing room and is beautiful. The hall is not air conditioned but does have windows to open for airflow. Was very nice.
