Yes, Pat that is my son. I think he was taken to the Memorial a week or 2 after arriving at Pearl Harbor. His sub was still in dry dock at the time.

Our son lives off base in a condo in Kaneohe. He works at Pearl Harbor. He has about a 15 minute drive. He likes the low key life style in Kaneohe better than the busy tempo (and traffic) of Waikiki. Of course, when he wants, he drives to Honolulu and enjoys all that Waikiki and the city has to offer!

Hello everyone just wanted to say thanks again for your thoughts and prayers on the death of my mother. My son was able to come home which I am so greatful to his command for allowing him. He is now on the way back to Pearl Harbor, Hi. It wasn't easy saying goodbye again but I am very happy to have had this short time with him. It snow yesterday here in New York so now he'll be on that beautiful warm island......he just called landed in Los Angeles...3 hour layover then Hawaii :):):):)

I am making my first trip to Hawaii in about 3 weeks. I don't know how I will feel about a long flight. My longest was 3 hours until now I just need to be able to stretch my legs and hips now and then. Also my flight from Houston to Hawaii is 8 hours.

I don't mind riding on planes at all. I thought I would be afraid because I have a fear of heights, but it just doesn't feel like that at all.

I made my first flight to visit my fiancee who was living in a different state why we were engaged. Flew by myself and loved it. And now.....29 years later.....he was definitely worth it!
