hi
pam
Tell your son to buy a bike unstead of a car
and help him to save his money
being in the military the pay is lower than civilian life.

if you don't have the flat rate boxes, you can order them for free on line at usps.com and they will ship them directly to your home. I think I pay $11.95 for postage on the largest box regardless of weight.

nerf footballs...how fun! Never thought of that one before.

lynda n...are the blue star banners different if they are different branches of the military? Or can you have a banner with two stars; one for each of your sons?

We have a banner in our window for our son but might have to add another star for our potential son in law...he's Army. He has been with us for a couple of days but leaves in the morning for Fort Drum, NY. He's had to correct me a few times.....they don't have seabags.......opps right...they have duffel bags! Hint...they look the same to me!!!

Thats funny Pat, our son is Nick and our daughter is...Ashleigh! And I am a big believer in LOOOOOOOOOOOONG engagements! I didn't like Palmetto bugs either Sponge!!!

Sponge, your son may not have his travel details yet - only his report date. That is what we have going on in our house - be ready for anything is my motto.

oh my goodness, live peacocks roaming the base? What a site, I cannot wait until we get a chance to go see it...just have to figure out if we need to save time for Sandy Beach or.....???

We had flying cockroaches in Japan...very scary and the spiders are even scarier! I always heard that coachroaches did not come out in the light so I would go to bed and literally leave EVERY light in the house on. One morning my neighbor said to me...don't you ever sleep? I said sure do, and he said with all those lights on??!!! I told him it was to ward off the coachroaches...he said good luck with that Japanese coachroaches are afraid on nothing...sadly he was right ...we seen our share of them ugly bugs!

April, thanks for the info on Tyler. Nick has talked to his recruiter here and they told him to just come by the office when he is home and they would try to hook him up ...makes me suscipious if the paperwork has to be done in advance(?) very sad that Tyler lost so much of his valuable leave not to get credit for it.

I'm meeting my future SIL today. We call him Army boy :-) Well his name is Nick too so I'm not sure I'm ready for a Nick One and a Nick two. Our only daughter is very in love and they are talking marriage but her parents are talking she has two more years of school to finish so you go back to school Army boy reports to his new command in Watertown, NY and let's visit again at Christmas! Ohhhhhhhhhhh we'll see how the visit goes, they are on the way back from Tampa and meeting his parents. Why do kids have to grow up??

That the question of the day! I believe graduation is July 31st and he is thinking that he will be home a few days later. He has a report date of 8.31, he does have 28 days of leave but doesn't want to use them all and he is hoping to do some RAP duty while he's home so that could save a few days. His dad is recommending he reports a few days early due to jet lag/time difference etc. and he thinks it is only one day of travel but I just got believe it's 2 days as you suggest. Sorry for the rambling!!!

And...does AT+T service work pretty well from there? In GL, it was horrible connection but it has been good at his current school.

I'm trying to coordinate a bbq for all the Navy families in our state and hoping that Nick will be here for it. We have another Sailor coming home in August from Guam and she has not been home for two years.

I know everything will work out...or not :-)

Good info on the calling cards Pat.

Does anyone know for sailors reporting to Hawaii - is it just one day of travel allocated? Trying to second guess our son's travel situation :-0
