Your photos are AWESOME. I am inspired by your fearlessness. We were in HI May 1 to May 5. No glider planes for us. I really wanted to. My LTJG said, "Mother, that is not very dignified." My husband said kiddingly, "Honey, wait until they offer a super senior discount through AARP." Is there an age limit? We stayed on solid ground. We golfed, ate and enjoyed our son's company. Thanks for sharing. Does anyone know if I can upload a PDF file? We got this wonderful map courtesy of the Sheraton Waikiki. Better than the one from Hertz and AAA. The detailed section of Waikiki was very useful. I going to scan it (it'll have to be in sections) and upload the files if I can; otherwise, I can email it as an attachment directly to someone. We just did the tourist thing. Next time ... glider planing, para sailing, surfing. LOL.

Melia I agree I don't care who owns the group,I was just wondering why the Navy can't make money off the stuff that gets sold

Thanks Malia I think I've only seen one commercial...I was just going by some of the info I came across..when I was checking into the advertising on this web site and for the Merchandise it says that none of the profits are going to the Navy......so I guess I will do a little more searching

In a little more than 30 hours we will be on a plane to HI to see our son. We have not planed any activity, just playing it by ear. Maybe a couple of rounds of golf, a little driving around but mostly being available at moment's notice to see our first born. We're not staying for long, just 5 days. Hopefully, the next time we visit, we'll have more time to explore and relax. Our son likes HI. He lives off base but like others has not had much time to see the island. What is about the old cliche "Join the Navy, see the world." ??? I guess for sub guys, it's "Join the Navy, see the underwater world with sonars."
I read with interest Dinah's comment (How Many Ships are Represented Here?) regarding how tough the guys have it on a sub. Regardless of their chosen line of work, everyone needs positive reimforcement from time to time. Let's hope all the upper level/senior guys are listening;otherwise, we'll run out of men coming down the pipeline for sub duty.
I recall reading a number of comments from a young woman whose fiancee (bf?) was on a sub. Her name was Heather. She sounded like she needed a lot of emotional support. What happen to her? Did she say something inappropriate? She just disappear. Did she break up with her sailor? She and her sailor are son enough to be my daughter/son or even granddaughter/grandson. Must be so hard for these young men and women trying to do a job, grow up and establish some relationship.
There are so many recommendations for places to eat, trips, cruises - I wonder a master data base that the Hawaii moms can input into (may be excel spreadsheet) can be created. Hmmmm

Welcome Julie
At&T works great on the islands also.....If he has a need for speed ....please keep him away from my son ....he just bought another Subaru for off road racing....and I was worried about him getting hurt in the military ....boys and their toys ...
