Hi Rhonda! Not going to meet me in Hawaii this year?

Comment by Rhonda8881 on May 5, 2016 at 12:23am

Navymom9828, my sailor is also a ET/Nav and is a submariner in Hawaii. He is finishing up shore duty and attending C school in Groton right now but will be assigned to a sub after his school finishes.  He will celebrate his 10 year anniversary in October of this year.

Navymom9828 I sent you a friend request.

Due to OPSEC I cannot tell you a lot, but I know he will NOT be flown to Guam. He will be getting ready to be part of the crew when he gets there. He will be busy.

My son is an FT and reenlisted last year for a total of ten.

Shortly I will be flying to Hawaii.

Always be careful with what info you post. Soon your son will need to get you on the ombudsman list. They keep family informed of what is going on.

NavyMom9828, Since you have joined, Navy for Moms, there is a sub group, pardon the pun, called, "Sub Moms", where lots of information is given through the site, as well as us moms that have sons serving on submarines, whether it be in Hawaii or else where.

When my son was headed for deployment last fall, we went with him to the NEX to pick up some essentials, ramen noodles, really???, yes, gum, favorite candy. Was interesting. Guys were loading up on Monster drinks, about two weeks out and most of that is gone.

I was so sure his feet would get cold the first time out that I knit him a pair of sox. Yup, I did.Had to get them right out to him! I really do not think he ever wore them.

Oh, and I asked to many questions that could not be answered. And subs run silent, I know that and now I figure no news is good news. Then all of a sudden when I least expect it an email pops up!

I am so glad so many of you have had time with your sailors. Whatever time I get with him will be a blessing. I am NOT going golfing this time. Way to much exercise chasing that little ball around the course, then I have to look for it in the brush, sand, trees. I am sure he will always smile when he remembers our golf game tog even when I am long gone.

Navy life is a roller coaster!

tysmom-Have a wonderfully joyful and safe trip...again!! I'm living vicariously through those who have been to Hawaii. Hubby & I have never been, but still hopeful :-)

Wen, I find your post very sweet, all such Mom questions! Yes, he will be taken care of and will have all the "essentials", though maybe not the comforts of home. He will learn to bring those few extras that make life a little happier when deployed. Not a lot of storage space though. My Marine son has given me us insider info. on ship life when he was deployed, quite a bit different than sub life.

Blessings and congrats to all those who had a visit from their son's recently!

Aloooooha!!!

In not to many days we will be flying the friendly skies!!! I have my suitcase laying on my bed. Today I will roll up some summer items and put them in.

Wen: I promise you he will be told what he needs for his accommodations. They may have certain guidelines for what they need as they do on my sons sub. We all have our concerns over whether they will be taken care of. I understand.

Blessings to all!!
