Just wanted to let everyone know my son made it home safely today.  His dad and I are so happy to see him.

Thanks Kevsmom93, and Storymom.  Hopefully he gets on a flight soon.  I'll let my son know his military  ID will come in handy once flights are able to take off and land.  Sorry your son had to go through all of that when he was trying to go home to visit you.  Kevsmom93 I do know where Durham is. Have fun on the drive with your hubby.  It's a beautiful day outside.  Yeah Mark is going to love coming home to beautiful sunny weather after dealing with snow and ice storms back east.  He's also going to love the weather in Hawaii.  I told him he can wear shorts and t-shirts all year long.  :-)

Still waiting to hear word that he's getting on his flight.  Will keep everyone updated.

mark's mom-I just realized your son is going to LOVE this weather!! So forget the drought and let's say hooray for sunshine, he's going to deserve it! Now we just need to get him here!

Storymom I agree flash that military I.D.!  And God Bless the USO I love donating to such an awesome organization!! Your son might have been on the floor but he was in a safe spot and they probably had snacks and drinks :-)

Mark's mom: hoping he gets to you soon ❤ years ago, our sailor spent the night on the floor of the USO, during a terrible snowstorm, at an airport far away, no chairs, cots, bunks left at all......He stood in a lot of lines for a day and a half, and finally, got on a flight home to us. Very stressful......but your son needs to always-always flash that military ID at every ticket agent when he can...it can help. Our son said folks with funerals, weddings or honeymoons to get too, seemed to have much more dire circumstances and he felt sorry for everyone, (small kids and babies too) I sure would hate to be a ticket agent at a time like this, to try to satisfy everyone's needs.

Oh your post makes me teary eyed :-( Can picture your son waiting patiently to come home....goodness what a time this is for all of you! Hang in there and just know it's in God's hands! Hoping for the best. Most of us here understand the long wait to see our son's again.

By the way I'm taking a drive with my hubby to a little town called Durham, if you've heard of it mark's mom? All the orchards are currently blossoming right now. Yes it's beautiful and sad at the same time because you wonder what the weather has in store for us here in our drought ridden state!

I agree with you Kevsmom93.  Mid to high 70 temperatures in Nor Cal this week.  We desperately need snow in the mountains, and rain in the valley to get us out of this drought.

I'm still waiting for Mark to text me to let me know he is able to fly out today.  The last text I got from him was around 10:30 am west coast time.  He said he is still waiting at the airport to see if he will be able to fly home today or not.  I will let everyone know when he gets home safely.  It's frustrating because his dad and I haven't seen him in 8 1/2 months.  :-(

Comment by Kevsmom93 on February 15, 2015 at 2:54pm

Wow, I can't even imagine how cold that would feel. I live in Nor Cal and the coldest we've ever had was in the teens. But I certainly sympathize for everyone each time I hear the latest weather reports for the east coast. We are having our own crazy weather, trees are blooming all over the place, daffodils are up (everything way too early!) and I actually heard the ice cream truck on my street yesterday! Isn't that the most ridiculous thing? I wish Californian's were a little more nervous about this drought than they appear to be.

mark's mom we will all want to know when your son makes it home safely! I'm sorry he's had to wait and you too, that has got to be so hard for everyone :-(

Brrrr that's cold!  Watched the news this morning.  Seems like the east coast area is getting hammered with snow storms.  Waiting to hear back from my son to see if he will be able to fly out today to come home to visit before heading to Hawaii.

Michigan weather update: -12 and feels like -25, that is cold for here!!!!!

Happy Valentines Day everyone!  My son was supposed to fly home yesterday from Groton, CT, but his flight got cancelled due to the snow and freezing temperatures back east.  His flight has been rescheduled to fly out on Sunday.  Hopefully we will get to see him soon.  He has to report for duty in Pearl Harbor on March 2nd.

I love the anchor and heart Storymom.

I feel the same way about my son Tysmom.  The Navy was a good decision, and I am so proud of my son.  Can't wait to go visit him in HI.
