Another Surprise!! Michael just flew in from Hawaii this morning! Brian picked him up at JFK. Everyone knew, except me & hubby! He is home for 10 days, before his next deployment in the near future. Can't believe he's home. We didn't think we'd see him for another year. I still can't believe it!!!! Taking him out for breakfast, since he hasn't had a decent meal in 24 hours. Plane ride alone from Hawaii to NY is 11 hours! First a surprise, home-visit from Garrett (at Sub School in Groton, Conn.) over Memorial Day weekend & now from Michael. What a proud & lucky mom, I get to be!! Best son's ever!!

Congrats LindaGirl!  Also to your son!

And what an awesome surprise for the weekend!!! Enjoy your long weekend with your "boots in the house".

Got the best surprise ever this morning!  My son  was able to get liberty because of Memorial Day, from Sub School in Groton, Conn. (after telling me it had been cancelled earlier in the week).  My husband picked him up from the ferry, bringing him home to Long Island for the weekend, without telling me!  They wanted it to be a surprise, & indeed it was!  So happy!

My youngest son just graduated from Navy Boot Camp today!  We are so proud of him, as he now joins his older brother in the Navy!

Little Bing: there is no cost to tour the Memorials at Pearl Harbor. You just have to get a ticket because a limited number of people can travel on the boat to the Arizona Memorial. There is also the Missouri and Bowfin to tour, again no cost. Some of this can be done online.

Little Bing. Go to unrealhawaii.com. they list all the hikes on the island starting from beginner right through to expert . I myself, am a hiker and a beach person and there's nothing better than hiking for four or five hours first thing in the morning and ending up at some of the most beautiful beaches in the world and taking the plunge and spending the afternoon body surfing...;)) My Sailors place on the Army Base is 2,000sf, and we use bonus miles for our flights so we are very fortunate.

I have been looking on line for things to do while we r there and I am in $ shock! $120 per prsn for a luau, $100 pr prsn for a Pearl Harbor Memorials tour. I'm not a big beach/sun/tanning kind of girl, this pale Irish skin isn't made for it. But hiking and walking tours sound like a lot of fun

Little Bing. Yes there are luaus at the Hale Koa twice a week. You need to make reservations, but I don't think it's a problem to sign up once you are actually there. You will love the Hale Koa. I've been there several times.
