Hi Ladies!!! here's a little friendly advice-DO NOT mention your son's/husband's name on here. SWCC is Special Warfare and they do monitor these pages!!! Be very careful about giving out too much personal info!! don't talk about where you are frrom or your child's name or too much personal info. Use a first initial or a code/nickname. I promise you from experience they read these pages and if you are saying too much your sailor will be targeted! Wife7 the first few days are kinda confusing...they will be assigned to rooms (I already know they will be upstairs from our guys in the same building)..they will do "grunt work" and have small workout sessions but probably not until Monday. In the afternoon after muster they have free time and can talk as much as they want. Weekends are also free time. Your guys will class up 9/4/2010 ( don't count on that things change) and until then they will do basic workouts and work around the base. They go through paperwork and get their gear issued and stencil everything. They will have a lot of free time before they class up! He'll probably call tonight!! Welcome to all of you!!!! Glad you're hear. I don't know everything but I am fortunate that my son calls almost nightly and keeps me updated. I'm more than happy to answer questions!!!! Navy hugs to all!!

34 guys started-7 have dropped and 4 dropped in ATP so that's 11 out, so I guess we are now at 23. My son's roomie dropped today and he was really bummed about it tonight. They really take it hard when someone leaves...my son says it's a bond most people couldn't understand. Beach run and obstacle course today...more brick treads tomorrow AND steak and lobster for lunch tomorrow (not sure why)! Good night ladies! Navy Mom hugs to all!

I feel the same way about not considering it a failure. He has always made me proud. I told him that I would be supportive in anything that he does or will do in the future. I was hoping that he would stay home and lead the praise and worship band but God has other plans for him right at this time. I to am wondering how many guys started the last class.

Babrams-I know what you mean....my son has wanted SWCC since he was eight years old, but I can tell you that at this point if he doesn't make it I won't consider it a failure because I know how very hard he has tried. I always tell him that if he doesn't make it it will be because that is not what God had planned for his life. It's hard every day to hear about the guys who DOR because we know how hard they trained and how difficult this program is, but we all have to remember that even when they leave SWCC they are still part of our Navy family and they are still heroically serving our country. Your son will have many stories after he gets to SD!!!! I hope the incoming guys have a safe flight tomorrow and enjoy SD as much as my son has!!! Hooyah Ladies!

Hi pahoapam.
Thank you for the warm welcome. My son was telling me about the "bricks." He also told a story about the medicine ball learning to tread water. He met a guy that filled him in on some of the "fun" stuff that he will get to experience in Coronado. He really wants to be a SWCC and nothing else. He said failure wasn't an option for him.
Thanks again for the warm welcome and it really is helpful being able to be a part of this group.
Take care,
babrams

Hi Ladies! Yes anotherproudmom it is hard to hear of guys leaving when we have all been together since boot camp. I pray that every one finds their "niche" in the Navy and will go on to wonderful opportunities. We all know how tough this program is and we all know our sailors knew going in they might not make it. My son calls every night and he says it is tougher every day. He got a nasty cut yesterday in the pool (not sure how you get cut in a pool) and had to get stitched up but all he cared about was surviving "bricks." babrams and SWCCwife welcome!!! Even though most of our guys are already in BCT this is a great place for you to be. If we can answer any questions or give you any insight into what your sailors will be doing next let us know....someone should have an answer for you. My son's best friend from home is coming in with your guys. He and my son are so excited that they will get to see each other. Hang in there everyone and keep the guys in your thoughts and prayers. We all need each other right now and our guys need us too! I am headed to New York on Thursday to visit my friend and for a much needed break. Everyone take care and keep us posted when you hear from your sailors. Again babrams and SWCCWife welcome and let us know if we can help...Pam

Hi SWCCWife
My son will be leaving on the same day as your hubby and I really hope they get to be rooming together. I guess we'll find out soon enough.

I just got the news that more were unable to make it through yesterday. I feel so bad for them all watching a good friend go out of the program or being the one themselves to go. Still so proud of them all for even trying such a program and hope they all find something else they are passionate about!
