Thank you all for your prayers and kind words. Neil Morgan (17) passed away today peacefully. I am going to see my son on Saturday. Please keep these families in your thoughts and prayers.

Here's an update-My son got leave for Thursday-Sunday. I was very surprised they let him. It is unusual for a S/A to get leave, but I think the fact that they have not classed up yet helped. I think it was also that this was not one but 6 kids involved was a factor. At any rate because of my job and the fact that I live 5 hours away from our hometown I am not sure I will even get to see him. I am looking for someone to come stay with this lady I live with, so I can drive down. But no luck yet. I am praying about it though so maybe it will all work out. Neil had a good night last night-the pressure on his brain came down to 7 (5 is normal) they kept him in a medically induced coma today but if things go well tonight they may attempt to wean him off some of the medication tomorrow. His chances still are not good, but there is the hope that he is still alive. Robbie (the driver) was released today but is understandably in absolute grief. Lindsey woke from her coma last night but is still in very critical condition. I am glad that my son can come home, but I certainly wish it was for some other reason than this. I love you all and appreciate your prayers and your kind words. Pam

I cannot begin to imagine how you are feeling.... between the tragedy of the accident and being far from your distraught son.... what a blessing it is to have this site to be able to connect with your child through another. Prayers for comfort to all touched by this horrible event.

Thank you all for your kindness. The last word I got on Neil was IF the swelling has gone down some today they may be performing a CT scan to check for brain activity. The other child in critical condition is still in a coma. The driver is in stable condtion and the other two girls went home today. They are having a candlelight vigil for Whitney (the child who died) tonight in our hometown. Our thoughts and prayers are with them. I have not heard from my son yet today, but he was calmed some late last night when I talked with him. I love you guys so much and I appreciate the friendship, especially right now.

Hi Pam. We are family and it was my pleasure and my sons too (I am sure) to be there for you and your son in a tragic time. I will check in with you tonight for an update on his condition. Thanks for the link to Patriot Guard Riders. I will be checking into it. I think that Tennismom's son is scheduled for surgery tommorrow, if I have it correct. {{HUGGS and PRAYERS}}

I just had to get up this morning and post this....I know that we are all in sort of a down time right now with not much going on with our sons, but I remember how very much we depended on each other during boot camp and shared our joys and sorrows daily. Navyfor Moms literally was my life link during those times. I wanted to share a little testimony about how this site and the friendships you make can change your life and play a significant role in your sailor's life as well. Six of my son's firends (all teenagers) were in a horrible accident Saturday night. They were all in one car leaving a party. The driver lost control of the car at a high rate of speed and the car flipped many times. One girl was killed and two others are in very critical condition. My son's best firend (a child I helped raise) had emergency brain surgery and only has a 5% chance of making it. All the kids were injured. My son was absolutely hysterical yesterday-kids texted him and he called me screaming and crying and begging me to tell him it wasn't true. I have never felt so lost in all my life. Bootcamp was hard because I was adjusting to letting go, but yesterday was horrible. A thousand miles away, my son needed me and I could not be there. I called WyomingMom and asked her to get her son to go to my son and make sure he was alright. He did and I felt such an immense sense of relief just knowing my son was not alone. I thank you Wyomingmom and your son for helping my son and I in a terrible time of grief. My son has applied for an emergency leave -he feels he at least needs to try to be there. Pray for not only my son but these families as well. Mostly, thank you to all of you for becoming such a wonderful part of my life. If ever, you find yourself in need-just reach out to your fellow Moms. May you all have a blessed week.

Hey Ladies!!! Hope everyone is having a great weekend so far. Tennismom I had today flagged as the day your son has lasik surgery. If I have it correct-hope all goes well!!! You guys know how I love to support our troops so I wanted to mention a new organization I have joined. Wyomingmom this will be of special interest to you-it is Patriot Guard Riders. They are a motorcycle group who support our troops in a unique way. I don't even own a motorcycle but I joined!!! I was fortunate enough to meet 6 members yesterday who had been on a welcome home mission-they encouraged me to join. You can find your state chapter on their home page at patriotguard.org. Also I'll remind you guys about Blue Star Mothers.org and redshirtfridays.org and a new group that is really dear to my heart Homes for our troops. You can google any of these sites. There are sooo many different ways to support our guys in service. I hope you will all choose one or some and get invloved. It will lighten your heart to see so much support for our men in service! Have a great week everyone!
