OK thank you, kelly 59, all this terminology! My son was waiting for months to get to BC, and will graduate on 12.22. I think he has to be in SD the 27th of Dec. Not sure when his SWCC training starts though.

chrisinoregon, Hi There! depper means Delayed Entry Program which is when someone is waiting to head to boot camp. My son was a "depper" for 9 months before he left for boot camp in July, he is currently at the end of SWCC BCT (Basic Crewman Training) out in SD & we're hoping to see him for Christmas!!

I am new to all the Navy terms. What is depper? My son will be in SD end of Dec. He tells us that his SWCC training will start in March?

My son has been a depper since July and was supposed to leave in January. He got word today that January specops shippers have been moved back to February or April. Just wondering if that kind of thing happens a lot. He is so anxious to go. I'm sure he'll have his new orders soon.

Hi Jen0338, Welcome! If you go to the SWCC site there is s SWCC Primer above in the discussion section that will describe the phases your boyfriend will go through from start to finish. TravisM did a great job explaining the process for us! My son is out in Coronado in the 3rd week of BCT (Basic Crewman Training) Not sure about the leave but they do have weekends off. I hope you get to go to his PIR, it is an amazing experience!!

Hi MominPa and Kelly and welcome to our group! I have been a slacker on here lately so I apologize to everyone for that. Kelly is right, though there is no specific set amount of time they wait to wear civies. Best not to bring too much though since she is right it must fit in the bag. In GL they mostly have to be in uniform but when they hit San Diego it is the complete opposite...they are rarely allowed to wear uniforms off base. EVERYTHING is different in San Diego! They will have plenty of free time before they class up and lots after they class up too. I do have some news for you ladies who have been on here for a while....my son is still on medical hold in SD, and it seems as if no one realized he had not been given any new orders since his injury. He was out in the desert last week on an armed patrol, but is back on base now. They are giving him limdu (Light Limited Duty) orders and finding him a job in San Diego for 6 months...there is the slightest chance that if his arm heals properly they may allow him to go BUDs or re-try SWCC...we are not getting our hopes up too high though. Time will tell...Hope everyone is doing well and that those of you with Sailors in CQT let us know how your "boys" are doing. You new ladies let me know if you have questions or if I can help in any way. I am headed to San Diego to see my son in 13 days!!!!! Hooyah!!!! Love and hugs to all!!! Pam
