My son & his bunk/rack mate (whatever the call each other) arrived Jan10th in Tx. They were allowed to choose their own roommate & chose each other (the one thing my son said he made while in boot camp were brothers for life!!) anyway, they went out that day (they were allowed liberty) & bought all kinds of things for their room. They told me they bought the Disney Frozen bedding!! Go figure!! So, I am assuming they are able to have personal bedding at A School. Then again, you know what happens when you assume...but I haven't heard of him getting in trouble for it. So, by all means do not take my word for it...just letting you know what my sailor has told me! Good luck & congrats soon.

Yes he should be able to have the blanket! My boyfriend has a lot of personal items in his room, he almost brought his xbox into his room, but he left it at my apartment (I live in San Antonio) so he just plays it here. But he was prepared to take it with him so I assume your sailor's PS4 would be just fine. Congratulations to you and your sailor!! My boyfriend is in A school right now, let me know if you wanna talk or have anymore questions!

My son asked for bed sheets, so I am assuming yes

becathena73 you sailor can have personal bedding at A school.  The first day there they will be taken to buy personal items, which includes bedding and cleaning supplies.  My sailor didn't buy a blanket, as he wanted his from home.  And yes, they are allowed their PS4 or other game systems, however, they will be super busy studying.  It's a very intense course and is very fast paced.  I guess it all depends on your sailors ability to learn new stuff quickly.  My sailor didn't take his game system, but had his lap top which he could use to game on and watch movies.

Whatever you send or whatever they buy, they're going to have to either jam it into their already jammed seabag when they head to their first duty station, or mail it home, so I personally wouldn't recommend a blanket because of that  :)  In any case I'd ask him.  Getting mail is also a pain, they say.

For anyone else wondering, all bedding is supplied so there's need to buy or send anything.  My son bought a warm jacket and a few clothing items but that was all because of the seabag/mail issue.  I can't imagine showing up at Field Med and the Marines with Disney bedding either, that's not gonna fly LOL

Lol!

Marcy, not sure when you sailor was there, but mine graduated in August.  He had to buy his own bed sheets, they were not supplied.  We took him his blanket from home.  When he headed to next duty station, he folded his blanket longways and it fit inside the suit bag with his dress uniforms.

The big thing to remember becathena73 is that they do have to pack and move everything with them when the leave.  A lot of the guys buy stuff and then sell it dirt cheap as they leave there for either leave at home of their next duty station.  My sailor had 1 advantage, as we live about 4 hours away and we were able to get his car to him to drive home when he got leave, so he just loaded everything in it.  The hard part was loading his bags for duty station, as he was sent to Spain.

Thanks Bobbi.  Mine went through a few years ago.

Yes they can they even have a Gamestop on base. I would have shipped my son his system but he just bought a second one...kids lol. They cannot have any hotplates but room has mini fridge and microwave. "ARMYfood" isn't like food at basic. So he rarely eats the meals they"provide"

I hope everyone keeps in mind that doing well increasing the odds of getting the C School one wants.   So for those focusing on having games and entertainment, keep that in mind because as Bobbi H says, A School is intense.

Not only that - what they are learning is to be DOC.  This is serious business.  I became a corpsman mom a few years ago and know corpsmen with permanent injuries and/or PTSD post-deployment to the war zone, and have sent condolences to the families of corpsmen killed in action.  So please take their time in A School as seriously as it is.

Are they restricted to certain colors of bedding?
