Hi, if anyone has information that could help me I would really appreciate it. My boyfriend is at school in San Antonio right now at Fort Sam Houston and I'm trying to plan a visit for when I get out of school in May. I have been looking at hotels and the Powless House on the base seems like a reasonable place for me to stay because I am only 20 and will be traveling alone. I will probably feel safer there and be closest to him. Looking at the site to book the hotel though and it's unclear if I can even stay there. Is it only for people in the military or their families? Also, does anyone have a different opinion on where I should stay? I don't have too much to spend so expensive hotels are out :( Please help if you can!

Yeah it's really going to add up. Thank you for the suggestion!
Gosh, no matter what i see we're going to have to take a bunch of taxis if we want to go anywhere. I was thinking of staying right next to the airport but now i will look into hotels near the riverwalk so we could be close to things we want to do. if he can not stay with me in the hotel though i might want to stay near the base.
I'm doing the same thing visiting my husband in for Memorial Day weekend so if I find something cheap I will let you know. The flights are expensive :(
Yeah I've been looking at flights everyday hoping to catch a low price but haven't booked anything yet. And thanks a lot. I know using a taxi all the time will cost a lot so that's why I thought if I stay as close to him as possible it might save some money. I don't know if he will be able to stay the night with me but I guess if he can then I wouldn't have to stay on base
I just booked my hotel stay with them for Memorial Day weekend :)
Hi. Are the Navy A school students allowed to go inside the IHG army hotels? I booked my room at Powless. My sailor said someone told him they cannot go to any of the hotels inside. Can someone confirm this please.
I stayed at the springhill suites it was 2 blocks from the riverwalk so quiet a block from the mall I stayed there since the rooms are bigger with my mom and my older son. It was reasonable and everything was close. It was nice to have a living room area. The breakfast was free and great the pool was small though and very hot.
Are you going Memorial Day? I still haven't booked my hotel just yet :/
