Good morning Illinois Navy Moms / families!

I have a SR that is currently in boot camp - PIR 8/3. I'm looking to join a local group in the QC.

This "ride" has definitely been one of the most proudest moments for us - but also one of the hardest to see our son grow into such a great young man.

I have good days and bad - so the more active I am - the better off I am :)

Looking forward to meeting everyone !

My SR is also Ship13Div234 PIR 8/3/12. We are in Southwest IL next to MO so I am on both discussion groups. PIR 8/3 has a group on FB that you can join.

Hi Kimberly,
My son became a sailor yesterday. His division had Battle Stations the night/morning before. PIR is Friday, so this initial phase of his Navy journey is just about over. Another mom said it well when she called this an emotional roller coaster.

I hope that you and your SR are cruising through boot camp without any problems. My son got sick at the very beginning of boot camp (a cold or flu) and he had a lingering cough. Then he got shin splints! After reading what some of the other recruits have been through, this was not too bad.

Well, three PIRs and then it is your turn! Your SR is at the point where things are getting better. They are starting more "hands on" activities. The toughest part of BC is behind you.

I wish you and your SR the best! Stay with this site. The members are very, very helpful and understanding. Write every day if you can or send funny or encouraging cards. I ended each of my letters by writing down the current countdown on your PIR page. Looking back, time seemed to pass quickly. It was a motivator for me to see the number go down.

Take care!
Fancy Nancy from Woodstock, IL

Hi Fancy Nancy! Sorry it took me so long to reply! Been trying to keep busy to make the time go by faster.

like your son, mine got sick in the beginning also and now sick again. The first one I assumed was from the shots and now a flu bug is floating around.

I can definitely tell a change in his letters lately - not so homesick!

Thanks for the wishes I greatly appreciate them!!!
