OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Please RSVP on Events page for Oct. 17th
http://www.navyformoms.com/events/illinois-statewide-meet-greet

Some parents want a meet and greet on Oct. 17th.
Two suggestions for cities would be
1) Bloomington/Normal
2) Springfield

We are looking for input as to how many might attend and which is preferred city---or do we need to be talking about both cities?

Shout out!

I would Attend . Either place is ok with me but I am much closer to springfield. It sounds like a great ideal and Alot of fun. thanks Terra
Hey Carol!! We may FINALLY get the opportunity to meet face to face!! Count me in....whatever location is decided. Pat
Jeannie, We live in Carol Stream (about 33 miles west of the center of Chicago)
Either location is good for me. I live in Clinton, IL, which is not too far from either location. I am excited to take part in this. I think it is great that we will have this opportunity to meet....Barb L.
Hi, I of course prefer Bloomington, since I live there but Springfield is doable. I have not been very active lately as I have been involved in getting my second graduating HS & going on trip with him to visit his brother. He leaves at the end of August for GL
Hey Jeannie-re, I think that sounds GREAT....I am all for helping All of our sons and daughters. And I just spoke to the hubby and he said that he would no more in the days to come but to go ahead and put him down as a very "good possibility"....woohooo! I wanted to also throw some ideas your way as well...How would everyone feel about if we would also invite some of the surrounding recruiting offices to join us...they weren't always recruiters ... at some point they were out in the Fleet...I was thinking that it would be nice to have them share some of their stories with us..... just one of my ideas! ...My other idea is .....Well let me ask this question first.... are we meeting for Lunch or Dinner? .....Karen C.
I prefer lunch so if needed can do it all without spending an overnight. It's about 2 1/2-3 hrs to Bloomington. Hubby is a possible yes.

Love Cracker Barrel and go every chance I can--but would that be too noisy?
Jeannie-re, what if you called them to find out when their peak time is mostly over and that way it wouldn't be as noisy...we could just have a late lunch.

Carol, if you would like we could convoy together.... :-D
Convey--4 - 7
I know my husband would love to be a part of this.....don't even need ask. LOL! I know he would love to get to know other Navy dad's. :) We LOVE food so any place works for us!
Jeannie -- Cracker Barrell might not be our best choice for having a private room. Probably the closest thing to the Interstate would be Famous Dave's, right on Veteran's Parkway. They have a private room that I am sure can be reserved. They also have a healthy variety for those of us with special dietary requests.

I believe we have a Navy recruiting station right here in town. If you want me to make any of the calls or do any of the checking, please don't hesitate because I've been to every restaurant in town, and can be there early to set up anything. Can't remember if I sent you my cell phone or other email address. You'll need to IM me here on N4M as I have this address blocked (too many emails at work!)

Just let me know what I can do to help! Glad to hear it looks like Bloomington is our next spot! It's so pretty hear in October!
