Wish I could make it up to Bloomington this Saturday, but my weekend is already too full. Hope you all have a great time visiting together.
Sanmor, my son will be going to Whidbey Island in the fall as his first duty station. I have lots of questions. May I PM you?
Cheryl ship 07 div 160 I live in Hazel Crest and go to the Frankfort fest every year also. Maybe we could meet up there. Also I am only 1/2 hr. away from Joliet so maybe we could set up a lunch somewhere in between with the other moms who are close by. I would also love it if Thetwoj and Jlalumen couls join us.
That would be great Barb. How about meeting about 11:50 at the Northwoods Mall? I would love to carpool. Just let me know.
I am in Eureka, right between Peoria and Bloomington lol. Should be a lot of fun.
I got to go visit Whidbey Island in May, since my son's squadron was being decomissioned. It was a wonderful 8 days, then son came home with us, until May 31, and was proud to carry the ensign in our local memorial day parade. It was a wonderful 3 weeks.
I have been a navy wife for 15 years, was a navy ombudsman for 10 of those years. Husband retired from the navy in 2003. I have said it before, and will say it again, navy mom is the hardest job of all {:oD Been a navy mom for 2 years, and still miss him so terrible. Now Daughter is thinking of going in two years ugh lol
Sanmor it will be easy to recognize these gals. They all usually have on a navy shirt or a proud navy mom shirt. They try to stay up front and wait for everyone to get there.
Angie go ahead and make it a definite for me. I will move heaven and earth to make it there. I miss not hanging with you gals and getting to talk.
Hanging with these gals is amazing. If you haven't been to a get together try to make one. You will learn all kinds of things and get the opportunity to put a face to the name.
Cheryl- That would be great! Would love to make some new NAVY mom friends! That makes three moms so far....lets see if there are any other moms out there intrested that live in the area???? What is your son PIR? :)
Thetwoj & Jlalumen, I live in Joliet and would love to get together with some "local" navy moms. I just love the Frankfort craft show in Sept and my husband is actually from Bourbonnais. We would have lots to discuss. Not to mention our Sailors!
Thanks AngiePNMx2. Jlalumen, if you want some help planning something a little farther north, I'm happy to give you a hand. I'm a single mom and my son is the only one I have. Im thinking I'm gonna be looking for things to keep me busy pretty soon.
Bummer Thetwoj and jlalumen....that you can't make it!! Would love to meet you! I know distance is problem for alot of us and it is hard.... I don't live in Bloomington I live about an hour south..... Bloomington is central for alot of moms. Hopefully someday we will get to meet! =] Feel free to ask us "seasoned" mom any questions we would thrilled to help you all out!
Jn/Jf...have a fabulous time with your Ensign.....being with our sailors is the best reason in the world to miss out on a lunch
