Hi everyone!!! I didn't even know this group was here until now and I've been here since November, lol... We live in Bloomington/Normal!! Where are all of you from and what are your sailors stories?

Our 18 yr old son went to BC Dec 6th & PIR'd Feb 1st, and it was such a profound experience for our 23 yr old daughter, she made the decision to join the Navy, too!!! She just enlisted yesterday and ships out for BC on May 29th.

We also have a 16 yr old son who has planned to enlist as well, so we will have 3 sailors in about 2 years!! Our 21 yr old son is a security guard for a large company here in town - so at least we will have one child who still lives around here!!! ;-)

Cool mom got it changed to 2 queen beds now. LOL No problem with the snoring. I have no problems with a snoring. Cannot wait for the 20th of April now. See ya then.

Awesome!!!  Watch I'll be the one that ends up snoring!  LOL  Two doubles would be great.  If they can't, a lot of times there's a pull out couch in King rooms and that would work also.

Cool mom I did make a reservation already but you are more then welcome to share the room with me. It is a king bed for now but I can ask for a double. It wouldn't make a difference in price. Just let me know. I wouldn't mind sharing.

I will bring the boxes with me next month to the Meet & Greet.  Medic Mom my sister can't make it, so are you still up for sharing a room?  If so, have you already made a reservation?  I can do it, I just don't want to double book.  Thanks.

Please pray for some navy families that will get the bad visit from the navy today.

If they are the "large" ones, that's great.  Here's a list of basic requests:

socks, power bars, nuts, small boxes cookies & crackers, beef jerky, greeting cards to write home with, body shampoo, lotion, single drink mixes (I have several water bottles they can be packed into,) funny stuff like from Oriental Trading, laundry pods (Purex and Tide have the best ones) and cards and letters from all of us and from kids.

I don't know if these can be used or not, but I have a box of 25 flat rate boxes that I can bring.  They are not the type that are in the picture, but the long ones where you put stuff in it on the side vs. the top.  Someone let me know and I'll go ahead and put them in my car, because I'll forget by April 20th.  LOL

Hi--someone asked what a packing party is, and that's a good question.  that's when several of us get together and bring flat rate packing boxes from the post office, fill them with snacks or personal hygiene products, and then pack those boxes as full as we can.  We then ship them to the monthly adoption group through Molly's Adopt a Sailor (let me know if you need the link) and feel the warm fuzzies knowing how much those deployed troopers enjoy our love boxes.

I think I'm coming to lunch and the packing party, but not spending the night.  Need to be at church the next day.  I'll be in touch!   Carol
