Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Comment by Sanmor on November 20, 2012 at 7:28pm: I know how that goes, my husband (retired navy) got his the long way. His rating was tiny, so hard to make it, he would pass the tests okay, but not enough vacancies

Comment by Sanmor on November 20, 2012 at 7:26pm: I know Gwen B, it is always worth a second look, the commands are meant to look after them and do that for them. His last command said they searched and just couldnt find that other half point sheesh, how do you know your job if you didnt got to A School sheesh. His command he is with now found that in July, but was too late to just promote him anyway. He has it now, so all is well. When they come close it is always worth a search

Comment by Ruth, Gun's Mom on November 20, 2012 at 7:24pm: Mine missed it by 1/2, but he knows he's got all the points. He was in Afghanistan till early October, and had to take it when he got back with very little study. His score keeps going up, but he's taken it a number of times now.

Well his new command in July told him that his A school had not been added in by his last command, so always worth a second look see if they come up slightly short.

To you moms whose sailors didn't make it, my thoughts, prayers, and hugs go out to you. You have a right to be proud, too, but it's hard to know your kid is hurting today.
