Totally Random:
I want to let other Mom's know that not only is my son if very fortuanate to be able to visit often because we live very close to Great Lakes, but he extends this bit of respite to his shipmates. Most weekends I have about 2 or 3 visiting with him. I don't remember all thier names, but they all take time to talk with me and my husband and tell us all about their home...and how they miss it...and what they plan on doing when they can return. We usually share a meal (or two) and they go off to see a movie or something (those over 21 will visit some local establishments, and often get free 'refreshments'). The Navy is, and we are very fortunate to have such wonderful men (and women) serving this Great Country of ours.
It is really hard to let them go, my son was a Navy brat, and I still had letting go issues. He has been in for over 2 years now, and I still get panic attacks (not really, only in my head) when I can't get a hold of him lol. You are completely normal, and I remember it all oh so well. I used to thing the navy wife job was the hardest, but to me the mom job is worse, having done/am both {:oD
I think bath salts and incense is a much safer options lol
Thank you Sanmor for the offer, that is so wonderful of you. Is everyone this crazy the week before thier loved one leaves? I think it will all be okay. I need to stop after work and get some bath salts and insents, or just a really big bottle of Vodka.
EmilyFCwife, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you! We just needed to hear from someone who knows the program as it is today. I think some of this is complete and utter panic on my end. The idea of not being able to help him when he's in a bad situation was making my hair fall out. I know, time to cut the cord, but as you all know, that's not as easy as it sounds!
Good morning everyone {:oD
Off work today so very happy to be sitting here on this beautiful morning sipping my coffee, and planning my day.
@medic mom, thanks, and congrats to you too. This weekend won't be so good I fear, they bumped our band up into 3A section, which makes no sense, so competing against huge schools.
@ Thetwoj, if you would like to message me, and we could talk on the phone, and we could give you the low down. My husband was 20 years navy, and was processing officers at the meps in boston for 3 years, we know it all about recruiting.
Thanks Pat, I sent her a message and hope to chat with her soon.
Also if you click on groups at the top of the page, there is a group,
"Undesignated....What's With That?" Maybe some good info there!!
Sorry, yes it is!!
Pat L. is I can't find "Molly" is it Molly Molly Fo Folley?
Ahhhh, Pat L. now THAT is what I wanted to hear. All this time worrying about this, it never helps when you only hear people who say don't do it. I can never find anyone who says that it's fine and he won't be scrubbing toilets or hauling rope up and down the stairs for 4 years. I mean, there is nothing wrong with some hard work, but he wants to learn a skill when he's there, maybe even go career.
