I wouldn't mind driving to Avon, however, I've been waiting until my son was assigned to his first duty station. It seems like I would be too new to join in on a conversation with seasoned moms while my son is only at A school.
Portage!
I also live in Northwest Indiana, it would be really nice to know someone close. I live in Valparaiso, where are you from?
I'm in Northwest Indiana. Would be nice to meet everybody!

I hope things work out with the dinner group. I am on the northeast side of Indy and could see meeting a monthly group if it met closer to my area. I don't know where everyone else is located.
Yes, Becky, I don't see comments either --not a techie enough to figure it out.
I got Kay's email about the Westies dinners today and clicked on it to respond.
Kaye, somehow I have another link to Ind Moms that does not have these photos (??) .... got to HERE from your email. I would love to meet some other Ind.families, but when the date is posted on Monday we have a church commitment. My fault, I've not put it on the calendar. We're 30 mi. northeast on I-69 and Avon is a far distance. Another location would be worth a try.

RE: Direction to take N4M dinner group
I need input from you all as to the future of the Indianapolis-area Navy Moms group, which meets monthly in Avon. We've called ourselves 'Westies' because we started with a core group of four moms from the west side.
From a regular attendance of 8-10 each month (sometimes reaching 14!) for the first two years, we've declined in attendance the past year to only 2-3; and twice this year, no one attended.
(I don't know if it's related, but there hasn't been a great deal of chat on the Indiana Moms group here at N4M.com… but, many thanks to Janeen Rhoades for her timely responses to new members while I’ve been snowed under with assisting daughter in schoolwork this past summer, and church work in September. I'm finally coming up for air and will hopefully get to know the newer moms here!)
So many Navy moms are in the Indy area, I'm in a quandry as to what might create a vibrant group once again. Here are some of my thoughts:
What are YOUR thoughts? Please let me know. And please let me know if we should keep the remaining dinners on the Events calendar. While I would be sad not to keep in touch with all of you, I could take the time spent here and devote it toward other interests I have.
Semper Fortis! Kaye Smith
My son just left for bootcamp on Wednesday. Missing him very much but I'm truly proud of him and of all the other sons and daughters who are serving. God bless.
